Default What exactly makes the Si's so heavy? (92-95)

A couple things I might be sure of would be:

- Sunroof
- Air Conditioning
- Power Steering
- Rear Disc Brakes
- Rear Speakers
- Power Mirrors
- The motor itself?

Mine is a 92si so it didn't come with the power windows. Anyway I don't think all that stuff would add up to 300 or so pounds would it? 300 pounds being about the weight difference between a CX and Si.

My AC is gone and my P/S is gone but the P/S rack is still there. I haven't actually swapped a Manual Steering rack in place of it. Is the P/S rack heavier than an M/S?
Does anyone know what the weight difference between the CX and Si motor are? Minus the P/S and A/C or give a good guess??

Anyway I was just wondering if anyone else had anything to add to the list I made?

Side Note: I'm gona go to a weigh station as soon as I get my car running.

Sunroof's weigh about 40-50 lbs. So, that sounds about right. The A/C is pretty heavy. Compressor, condensor, lines, etc.

also the rear cargo cover, side pockets on the door panel weigh a little more, and there's the little things like the z6 IM is heavier than the cx/vx ones.

You forgot:
rear wipers and passenger side mirror (cx don't have them)
Sound deadening material (tar)
rear speakers/brackets (option)
hatch cover
cruise control
ABS (option only in 94-95, I think)
front sway bar
13" steel wheels (cx) 13" alloy wheels (vx) 14" steel wheels (Si)
hubcaps
floor mats (option)
carpet (has more padding material, I think)

I know I might of forgot something...

you can take your back seats out if you want, it'll help. yea yea..some ppl hate hatches with no rear seats, but i think it can look pretty clean. here is a dyi link to taking out your rear seats. i've done this..and i liked the room it made in my hatch. This guy saved about 27 pounds from it all. also, he made a dyi carpet and tar removal as well. search for it.

I've had my rear seats out before. Just be warned that it makes the car a LOT louder.

Very true. In all reality, I think it could hurt the car if you were doing it for weight reasons without relocating something to the rear. Our cars are already very nose heavy, and removing more weight from the back end just makes them even more unbalanced.

Just means you have to stay on-throttle more often to be safe .

And I have a 93 Si minus AC/PS/Cruise/Washer fluid system/Carpet/Spare, tools and rear cover and I doubt it's any heavier than my brother's VX GSR swapped hatch.

A 50lb dumbell isn't anything to me. 50 lbs in any other shape is heavy. Just something to think about.
