Hey guys new 2 honda tech i need help my friend had a 1994 honda civic ex with a d16z6 in it and the motor locked up so he got a d16y8 with some mods and he put a aem cam gear on it it sop. has a bullfrog cam or something in it well it ran fine 4 a couple of months (he did the swap) he used the z6 harness well as i was saying it ran fine 4 a couple of months and now when u rev it up past 3 grand it knocks like a deep knock i dont know where 2 start i bought the car 4 $1200 great shell it runs fine below 3 grand i have a d16z6 head and block we were going 2 put the d16z6 head on it 2 day 2 see if that fixed it but i think i might just build the d16z6 block (eagle rods srp pistons blockgard) then put the z6 motor in it but i just need 2 drive it 4 a couple of months so if i could fix the knockin noise it would be a big help! please help thanks

Sounds like you spun a rod. it is common with the d16y series
