Okay so it's time for a 2.5" exhaust system for my GS-R. The HyTech system is kinda expensive and usually has a wait, and SMSP's system is pricey too (based on what I hear). The only other option is the T1R.

My biggest concern is that on a daily driver, it's gonna be annoying. I don't mind if it's loud when I get on it, but a droning while cruising is gonna bug the hell out of me.

Can any T1R owners shed light on this? Would you consider this a very liveable exhaust on a daily driver? (supposedly the "new" version is quieter)

 

no its not really loud. actually i think its the best sounding and its quiet compared to the others...

I've heard the same thing and considering going that route myself

 

t1r actually makes a spl street muffler that is supposedly relatively quiet (&gt;84dB)

 

I kind of wanted one, but the fact that it has a silencer made me think that it was pretty loud compared to my current RS*R. If your looking 2.5'' you might want to take a look at the kteller8 system also.

check out the sound clips on the spnsors forum... speedstar-racing is having a great deal on them act fast.. the deal will end this month...

im in the process of getting $$$ together to buy it myself

btw: iam plan to get one too..but does it fit on stock 00 gsr cat? i dont have too much money for header and cat yet.

dont think it fits on a stock cat.. the piping diameter for the t1r is 2.5

 

92typeR posted a dyno vid with it, and it was quiet till he got on it. id rock it if i wanted exhaust. recently i road in a car with world sport exhaust too and that **** was so quiet it was unbelievable. when my buddy got on it it was loud as chit too. i say T1R

there more then just the exhaust that makes things quiet and loud....but its relatively quiet.

btw, what header are you planning to run with this setup?

 

I am aware. A high-flow cat can significantly increase the volume of one's exhaust system.

I'm speaking in generality...I want to know if this is louder than average, or about average when compared to other aftermarket systems.

 

i have it on my car it is a true 2.5in exhaust with no bottlenecks

 

apexi dunk all the way......

 

wupz didn't mean to hit post so soon. with the dunk its a quiet ride but with a deep mellow tone until u get on it. makes the b18c1 sound so incredible. on a scale 1-10...its a 69+

 

Wasn't really looking for opinions on other exhausts....

So wait.. the new T1R exhaust is a 2.5" axle back? There are no charts or additional information about power gains or even if it is a 2.5" exhaust.

 

The Outer Diameter of the exhaust is 2.5" and the pipe itself is 1.2mm thick so the exhaust in mm is 61.8mm

(63mm - 1.2mm) = 61.8mm

61.8mm = 2.43"

I believe stock exhaust is 2.25" not sure how thick the piping is but is it's smaller than 2.25"

2.25" = 57.1mm - pipe thickness

60mm exhaust is 2.36"

60mm - 1.2mm = 58.8mm

58.8mm = 2.31"

T1R Street muffler is either 60mm or 63mm.

I like this exhaust too.

I was asking specifically about the new SPL muffler they have, and yes, I found out it too is 2.5". It's basically just a quieter version (probably less flow) of their standard muffler.

I would definately guess a lesser flow of exhaust due to the packing of their muffler. Even though that the exhaust is quiet, there is a small horsepower loss. But if everyone is saying that the T1R is not that loud, then might as well do the Power exhaust that they offer. I dunno thats just my 2 cents
