Default my t3 60-1 crapped out on me. suggestions on what turbo i should buy now!?!?!?

last night my turbo totally took a **** on me. i cant even build boost and i'm blowing out soooooooo much smoke.

what do you guys reccommend for a new turbo? i want something that reaches boost pretty quick and is able to make about 400whp without it being totally maxxed out or running outta breath.

i know alot of people run precesion SC turbos whether it be 34 44 50 or 61
are those good? i had a t3/t04b before. didnt run high boost on it though so i dont know how it is. my t3 60-1 has like a .48 or .50 a/r can't remember exactly.

i was thinking of a t3/t04e .63a/r, another 60-1 with a larger a/r, or should i get one of those SC turbos

oh yeah... my set up is
h22 closed deck sleeved
1mm over
eagle rods
wiseco 8.5:1 compression
drag manifold 2.5" dp
tial wastegate
3" exhaust

what turbo is good

I would grab an SC61, as they are able to make some big power, hell i just ordered one to replace my t3/t4oe 60 trim turbo that I have forsale below.

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1097908

Although, I ended up getting the gt35e instead. But if you only want 400whp, it shouldnt' take much, i made 355whp on a mustang dyno at 14psi on my 81.5 bored b18c block. I'm sure with an h22, you could make some good power a turbo similar to the one i'm selling or if you got a sc61, you could get some sick power.

i hear ya, the turbo is in good shape, but you may want to consider something bigger, although a t3/t67 is freakin huge...

t3/t67 seems large and laggy

i wanted something very responsive. i didnt want high hp #'s. i want good power delivery

having power come in at 5500-6000 seems pointless to me. i want boost to start at like 2500 and full boost of 15-18psi by at most 4500rpm's

this is my friends old civic si dyno on 10psi with an 18g greddy kit, ran everything that came with the kit and tuned w/ a vafc

notice the power delivery is great. i loved driving his car. theres alot of dynos on here that reach about 150whp at like 4.5k-5krpms then rocket all the way to like 300whp by 5k-6krpms.

id like something that delivered like this but in the 320whp range if possible

You will have that much boost at around 4500. I'm running a T3/T67 on an 81.5MM B18C1 and I have 20 PSI at around 5000 RPM's. .4L more displacement will make atleast 500 RPM's spooling difference.

my 60-1 or a 60-1 in general.

i liked it. i didnt reach full boost til about 5k

and for some odd reason i only made 300hp... maybe cuz my turbo was crappin out.

i think i blew a seal or something on the inside of my turbo. i see oil leaking out everywhere on the exhaust side, and the wheel does not spin anymore.... at all

After the SC61 came out, everyone kinda left the 60-1 in the dark. However, it still is a great turbo.

The teg likes it

BTW, that graph is from the hifi 60-1.

why not just rebuild it? The 60-1 fad is over, but it's still a damn good turbo

If you didn't reach boost till 5K on an H22 it was definitely crapping on you a while ago, or you have a huge exhaust leak.

the smart thing to do as far as money is concerned is that i should rebuild it. but i'd like to try something new. maybe sell my crapped out turbo for cheap or rebuild then sell.

Buy my old turbo!!

You got a $$$ figure in mind for a new turbo? That would help out in your choice and with peoples suggestions. But there is always the rebuild. You need to get that old turbo spec'd out too. Let me know.

what dont you look at a smaller turbo that would give you a real nice USEABLE power band. something that would still make your 400whp at 20-25 psi and still be efficient. but you could still cruise around town and get a good 10psi or so by like 3k.

lately people have been seeming to buy the biggest freaking turbo they can find so they can say "my huge t4 makes 400whp on 5 psi. sure it doesnt spool till 6k, but i only drive around in vtec so i have power all the time, and if i want to, all have to do is turn the boost up and i can make 800whp"

you dont need a turbo that can make 600whp if you are only gonna make 400-450whp. why give yourself a shitty powerband???

ps - sorry about your turbo - that sucks

yeah that does suck about your turbo, i still think the 60-1 is a good turbo although there are a lot of trubos out there that will give you the same high end power you want but also get low end torque. i am running a t3/t04e turbo now on my stock b18c. and it spooles just fine i like the power band although i also like the sudden amount of power it gets at about 4500. when i'm done with the engine rebuild i will be at about a 2.0 litre and will run the t3/t67 H.O. which is good for like 700whp. but from what i have read and heard the spool time should be the same as the turbo i'm running now. i would rebuild the 60-1 or get the t67.

because a larger turbo takes less effort and produces less heat. Although a smaller turbo is good, a larger more efficient one is good as well. What's a usuable powerband in a honda anyways? Anything over 300whp and you're going to spin throughtout 5th gear unless you ride the clutch like a drunken ****

so, so far it is to rebuild or a t3/t67.

so i guess my question is still what is quick spooling for my setup and make good power without too much lag, none at all would be good but i dont want a little like a t25 and such

i mainly ask cuz i dont really understand how to read compressor maps and such, i usually just ask jason (st00pid)

something that reaches full boost around 3500-4000 will be more fun on the street IMO.
