..Searched.. Did P/S to Manual Rack Conversion.... QUESTION about Support Bushing....
I Recently Change from P/S To Manual Because of an
accident that destroyed my Rack and Pinion.....

The PART im talking about is Part# 12 Which #13 Holds up....
Is The bushing different on a 97 Manual Rack DX Coupe,
Compared To P/S on LX Sedan... I'm Thinking it is smaller on the Manual Rack
but im not sure and not able to check it until i go back to jersey and find the old one... someone please fill me in, i searched and couldn't find my answer...
If So I'm Just Gonna Change it to the fatter one which isnt necessary if thats not the problem.... Thanks...

Fist off, you are looking at a Manual rack from a CRX. How would you fit that on your 97. All you have to do is compare the pictures between the two actual racks. Like this...
LX w/ Power Steering...

DX w/ Manual Steering...

Now, as you can clearly see, the bushings are nothing alike. In fact, the bushing on manual rack comes with the rack and is permenantly attached to it. It also provides a sealing surface for the dust boot on that side. I compared the part numbers for the mounting brackets though (#12 & #13 in the first pic, and #4 & #6 in the second pic), and they are identicle. You should be able to use those w/ either rack.

i was using that pic to show the bracket i was mentioning it was in the same place and everything but thanks thats what i needed to know i think i forgot to put on the top round bracket and that's why it's jumping its not the bushing at all... thanks for the info...
What about the same question for a 92-95 civic hatch? I am trying to put a manual rack in the power steering crossmember and the bushing is real loose? Do they make the right bushing? Thanks
if the brackets #12 and #13 are exactly the same why didnt it fit exactly when i put it on to the car?? could it be the actual underbody of the car?? we had to cut a piece of the lx bushing and put it around the dx non removable bushing and now it doesnt move.. before there was a lot of play... even after i fixed the bracket... anyone else have the same problem??? lmk... now its time for an alignment
loose bushing or no top bracket results in major wheel hop and steering wheel play... just fyi

It will also destroy your CV shafts.
As for the 92-95 civics, the bushing is totally different. Here is a comparison of the parts for P/S and manual racks...
Manual: As you can see the bushing isn't available seperatly, as it is part of the gearbox...

Power: The mounting bracket for these two racks are totaly different...

I checked the part numbers for the rear subframes that each gearbox mounts too, and they are different. This leads me to believe the mounting bracket section is different. You may need to make a custom bracket to mount the gearbox solid to the frame.
