I know it sound stupid but the only car i've ever owned is an integra, i've owned 3 Da's but about 6 months ago i bought a 95 gsr. Its been bothering me because I want an itr so bad, it is the only car I've ever wanted, they are so expensive on insurance i will never be able to own a real one but see my motto has always been that if its a gsr leave it a gsr. But my friend just bought a yellow 2000 itr and I can't stand it, it's becuase it should've been me. The reason i'm asking this question is because apart me wants to do it and a part me doesn't you see a while back I almost bought a 97 cw itr but it was too much, but when he took me for a ride I fell in love, I'm addicted to the vtec, please any comments or remarks are greatly appreciated

 

Do what you want it's yours. So long as your parts aren't stolen

 

if you like pigtegras so much get an LS and built it.. cheaper for insurance too.. if its the vtec you like get some a hatch, either way good luck.
if you wast your time converting the gsr youll be in over your head.. dont waste your money.. itll never be an R

 

It is impossible, look at the chassis.

 

Just use the money to make your GSR even better than an ITR for less.

 

everybody is thinking, it'll never be an ITR.

but it's your car, do whatever you want to it. on the exterior, people might not be able to tell... but it's what's on the inside that counts.

besides, for the money you'd invest, you can probably build just as good if not better and not have the theft factor upped. take the vtec badge off and put an SE sticker on the back of it. heh.

 

If you really want an ITR - and from what you're saying, that's what you really want - then get one. Don't try to make some other car into one, since that's not what you really want.

If you can't afford it now, keep saving up, and you'll get one sooner than you think.

 

No matter how many ITR parts you install, it still won't ever be the real thing.

Why make it a Type R anyways? For the cash it would cost, you could build up a GS-R to blow the doors off a Type R, and still have money left over.

hmmmm. i think my civic and your civic should play together. they have much in common

 

drive the gsr as is... save up $$, then buy an ITR or something better.

 

throw on itr suspen. jdm itr front end itr wing.
and build the gsr motor and you beat any itr. then everyone see you and wont be able to tell the diff. besides the vin's but who cares. ITR over priced

you will be able to notice the sunroof and then that extra 30 or 40 pounds or so will just slow you down and hype R will just own j00

No. There are a LOT of shady shops. Receipts dont mean crap. Run the VIN or ask the Police to run the VIN (if its a USDM motor) before you buy it.

Not really, ferrari's are overpriced, jaguars are overpriced. We're talking about a $25K vehicle BRAND NEW that will perform well on a track in stock form. Just cuz mommy's allowance could only buy you a hatchcrap doesn't mean everything else is overpriced.

the ITR is no engineering marvel. Its a production car based on a economy car marketed to girls in Japan.
Parts are abundant form US and JDM manufacturers, I would say you can easily make a comparable car to an ITR for the same budget. Not to mention the plethora of used parts available for the chassis and engine.

You will be missing the badge on the console, stickers, and some other trinkets. But all they do is attract theives.

 

I own a GSR and also want and ITR. I unfortunately have no garage and I am not willing to pay the expensive insurance on it.

So I kept my GSR and bought a miata. These things are sick handling cars. I've been happy ever since.

If you really want one save up the dough or else you'll never be completely satisfied.
