Default Help with preload on Omni coilovers

I just bought some omni street coilovers and ive read up on them before that people have recomended preloading these. No one ever mentioned how much though and I just did some searching on how much is recomended. Also my coilovers didnt come with instructions. So for those of you who have omni coilovers how much did you preload them. and by the way I have a 98 coupe

thanks!

You should have at least some preload for everyday driving, preload simply means the springs will not compress until the car puts more force on them then the preload is. So too much preload will be like driving on bricks, no preload will not make it bouncy but is not good because a large extension of the shock could move the spring around because nothing will be holding it.

Ugh. More wrong information.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by JDMmaster &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">You should have at least some preload for everyday driving, preload simply means the springs will not compress until the car puts more force on them then the preload is.</TD></TR></TABLE>

The car puts more force on them at rest than the spring preload - unless you can figure out how to get more than 800 lbs of preload on a front spring

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by JDMmaster &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">no preload will not make it bouncy but is not good because a large extension of the shock could move the spring around because nothing will be holding it.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Again, weight of car = load on the springs. They arent going anywhere.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT

jimmy who just gave up

edit- to the orignal poster, search around and you will see that there is really no need to pre-load your springs, no one has produced any solid evidence that it actually does anything. and it is null and viod as soon as you car is not jacked up
