Default should i buy my friends dsm?

not sure if this is the right forum or if there is one that fits this but i have an ek coupe so i decided to pick this forum. yeah, i want to buy my friends 92 eagle talon tsi (awd turbo), it has a 16g turbo, boost controler, front mount, vafc, and some other garbage too. he'll sell it to me for 2500 bucks, it's not that reliable (it's a ******* dsm), but i'd keep my civic and have two cars. it can smoke evo's so we came to the conclusion that it's a high 12 second car. i'm not sure what to do, i can come up with that money fairly quick if i save like a little ****, but i'd like some opinions saying why or why not i should buy it, thanks

drive it, I used to have a 92 tsi awd, and alot of people dont like the way they drive, if all you want is to be fast in a strait line I say go for it, but make sure you always have another car to drive when its broken.

the 5 bolt blocks were notorious for the crankwalks, this is the 6 bolt block with the 4 bolt rear end.

and this is the exact parts list

16g turbo
custom 3 inch mandrel bend turbo back exhaust, resonator instead of a cat
boost gauge
gm maf
egt
660 injectors
rre x-clutch
fadanza flywheel
manual boost controller
afc

front mount with 2 1/2 ic piping

custom stock spray painted black rims

nice sony head unit

and he's giving me the stock exhaust for smog ****

all the electrical stuff works except for the right blinker, when you press it, it stays on untill you turn off the car.

i drove it when it only had the upgraded turbo and boost controller and still loved it. i'm sold on turbos for sure but whether it will be a turbo honda or a turbo dsm i'm not sure on that

dsm's tend to be worse money pits than hondas. hondas you dump money into making them faster, dsm's you dump money into fixing them on a weekly basis. The car is a great car for strictly track use if you have the money to keep up with it and all the bullshit its gonna give you. I have to say dump the 2500 into your ek and smoke evo's all day with the reliability of a honda.

I do have to admit though, i only owned a dsm for a short time. I have watched most of my friends dump every penny they had on a car that sat in their driveway. Meanwhile i was at the track every weekend in my honda.

I'd say go for it...don't let uneducated people steer you away.
And crankwalk rarely happens....and it is more prone to happen in the 7bolt engine. The
6bolt in your buddies car is pretty much bulletproof....with a 16g turbo, frontmount, fuel, awd you'll get 12's all day(and tuning of coarse)..it only get quicker from there.....fyi I have a 97gst w/ 126k miles on it, and I beat on it constantly... and guess what no crankwalk(and I have a 7bolt)...there great cars...just don't expect to keep beating a 12-14 year old engine/trans all day and have nothing break...and trust me you'll be faster MOST of your civic buddies....have any questions, feel free to ask....hopefully I won't get flamed

I highly doubt a ek with 2.5k in mods will smoke a evo..or any other turbocharged vehicle.....don't get my wrong..i own a eg and there pretty peppy cars..but let's say I could get a b18c swap for 2.5k installed(no chance in hell, but if some knows where I can get this done..point me in the right way)...I might get lucky and pull a low 14..heh my stock gst ran a 15 @ 96 mph

My friends old 92 Talon tsi had the rear diff lock up around a corner, he spun out at around 50 hit an old stone wall, a friend was ejected out the back hatch window and died.

And I think there was a recall on that car for that rear diff too is what he told me afterwards I beleive.

thank you for knowing what u are talking about!!!!!!!!! 7 bolt is know for crank walk but his 92 which most likely has a 6 bolt is not known for it.. but u gotta watch out casue half way through the model yr in 92 they started putting in the 7 bolt motor but 92 is the year of the good rear end.. if you want a good straight line car go for it that is a damn good deal.. oh yeah and some people need to learn what they are talking about before they speak... this is why the honda camp gets fucked with so bad!!!!!!!!!!!1
