It's cast iron, wouldn't it rust pretty quickly? When I turboed my integra I sanded all the casting look off of it and had it coated, looked pretty good that way.

Actually, there is a CERAMIC process I use that comes either in Silver Ceramic or Black. Doesn't rust even on the hotside (I usually double coat it)

Here's an example:

With turbo housings, is the coating applied to the inside or just the outside?

If you looking to do that I just sent out my mani to have JET-HOT coating put on it and they said that the can do hot side's on turbos, Its the inside and out. I think the colors are silver, blue, black, and a chrome look.

On the hot side, mainly the outside. We don't coat the Inside of the compressor side, unless its been ported or nicks had developed over time

The best time to apply the coatings to the housings when they are new and have not yet seen heat

Yeah, i know all about ceramic coatings, but he is asking about polishing. If you polish cast iron and don't coat it then it will rust. There's no point in polishing it if you're going to coat it.

Yea i dont want to coat it.
I figure it will rust either way, Just maybe not as easily with it polished or it be a bit easier to clean up If it does.

I wanna say one of Abel's old cars turbo was complelty Polished and it looked damn good

Don't waste time trying to polish cast iron, it will rust immediately and look like total dog-****. Shodan has the right idea by ceramic coating. It's actually quite cheap so you might consider that option instead.

Hey This One,
Another option is one of those stainless laser-cut shields that covers the turbine housing. They ain't cheap though.

Take care,
Mick

In the future, instead of bringing back old threads from the dead, make a new thread referencing the old thread with a link. Its a ceramic coating and if you want to know more about it, PM TheShodan
