Default New car time! Help an integra n00b out.

Ok so, the time has come again for me to purchase a new car. I have at the most 10G's to spend, and I'd like something newer (post 1995). I'll have plenty of money to add more mods later (turbo, etc). So, what's the most recent year teg I can get with the most potential? I'd like to eventually be able to keep up with my friends rx7 which runs mid 11's right now (I realize this is going to take a lot of work, I'd probably be happy with mid-low 12's). Thanks for your time!
p.s. A prelude is also an option, what do you guys think will be more bang for the buck?

Buy an 94-97 RS shell, drop a Type-R motor and tranny.

You're an idiot. An R motor is way overrated.
I'd say get an ls or gsr...if you want the luxury options...and rs if you don't. Either build an ls-vtec or a gsr....and I mean fully built.......then boost the hell out of it....You will need good suspension as well...

You will need lots of other stuff as well...I'm just too lazy right now to go on.

Forgot to mention, I'd like to avoid having to do a swap if possible, but if that's what it takes then so be it. Is the Type-R motor vtec? I'd rather have the HP gains from a turbo than vtec, and from what I've read vtec+turbo=pointless?

Don't buy an R motor...It's a waste of money.. just buy a gsr..and fully build it.

Ok cool. Is an ls/vtec motor pretty comparable to a straight turbo'd ls?

if you want 11's...

LS - cost less, better initial boost platform
gsr - initally has 35 hp more, vtec

i'd suggest 98 LS/GSR (98 for cosmestic reasons, they look way better than 94-97) so the cheapters 98-01...

an RS is lighter than LS/GSR but you so sacrifice some luxury (power this and that)

then from there you will probably need to get a turbo kit, some may say ls/vtec, some say ls/vtec turbo.

i don't think you need the ls/vtec because the vtec and turbo can conflict with each other.

to run 11's which is super fast for an integra you may need some nos. I don't know much about it. so hopefully somebody will tell you what you need and how to do it right.

i got my 99 LS with just under 60k miles for 8000 bucks. look around, their are some good deals.

i'm really tired...sorry if this write up is lame...

If you got 10 you can spend on the car alone then you can get a GSR. I just got a 99 for 10470 OTD from a dealer so i paid about 9.4k. While shopping i found them from 5-12k varying from year and condition or title. If you want to use part of the 10k to mod it up, then buy LS as new as you can for 6-8k and throw the turbo etc in. You're apparntly VERY new if you dont know the type R is vtec so pertaining to cosmetics, if you buy one pre 98 you can change out the front and rear bumpers to make them look just like the 98+ models. Several people have done it here and theyre just as tight. Check out the thread with pictures stickied at the top of this forum and you'll see tons of hot rides.

btw-good suggestions from the others in here.

it depends what your priorities are....

If you just want all out speed and dont care about loks, get a crx, and swap in a gs-r motor (good for 13s right out of the box)

If you want a little luxery than definetely get a gs-r , 94 or 95 (OBD is easier to mod than OBD II) and you'll still have a shitload of money for your turbo kit !

I would consider either a GSR or LS. Either car will do just fine with a solid turbo set up and good tuning.

IMO get any year teg w/ any amount of miles because you are going to build up the engine anyways. A 2 gen would be good cuz they weigh 2,500lbs. If you want it to be as fast as your boy's rx-7 you are going to need a strong block in order in boost a good amount and nos is not nessary. So, make sure you build you block as strong as you can!!!! Get a big turbo like a t70, low compression pistons etc.....etc..... and tuningx3 my boy has a 9 secound Civic but not with a b series, but with a H series. they is alot more to it but you should read up on it. Everyone has different goals and styles. gl

I think all motor LS should be good...fully build it and shoot your motor with some NOS....like a 75 shot or something....then make sure you have super bald tires so they can grip like slicks while at the track. You might want to gut everything out of the interior too....this will save you about 800 pounds...thats a lot of weight you don't have to haul around everywhere. JDM Wheels help too, but they have to be JDM....I don't know why but USDM wheels just don't do the trick.
And you have to cut your springs....or hell take them out all together...that will give you the slammed look and give you traction while still being streetable!

Well I could go on but I have to go fix my car....I am missing my JDM grill and my Honda emblem is falling off. If you have any ?s don't hesitate to ask me first!
