what a surprise this is... even though some of the newbie questions are dumb and annoying at least we can still help and bring up topics that have been covered already to give new people old info they can use.
I my self got tired of everyone flamming everyone for asking a question. For as long as H-T has been around .. i am sure every topic has been covered. So lets not freak out when questions are asked that have been covered already Because without those threads we would have no information floating around, we would just have dumb pointless posts about new wheels, and posts about theft and winter time fun.
I dont know if anyone agrees with me, but **** it , thats how I feel.

It's not an easy solution. ITR Forum is ridiculously rife with "search" replies, that's true.
Some of our greatest resources have just moved on, either tired of repeating themselves or tired of the bad manners.

"Stickies" are the posts that are always at the top of the page, no matter how old they are. There's a couple of expo threads, a European Expo thread, a FAQ, etc.

I totally agree - I'm tired of the the "go and search" replies. I think every discussion is different, with different circumstances and different context. Who knows what new info we can discover and share in a topic that we thought once closed.
Where would we be in this world if the powers that be declared all knowledge closed and any new innovator, philosopher or thinker was told to search the holy archives for what was already written?

I think it would be extremely helpful if people would be more specific - for example, "Go and search archived posts in the ITR forum with XXXXX in the title".

And another good point!
I've been on both sides of the fence. Both as a mod (elsewhere) and an active member here.
I help when I can, I suggest to search when the answer is obvious or I clearly remember it being covered in depth. I also tend to add links as a response when I tell someone to search in case they may not know what to look for. But there are some topics that have been covered to death and no real reason why another post on the same subject should be entertained.
But I gotta be honest, there are a growing number of members most of which are newer that are lazy and want to be spoon fed with a quick response or just could care less to follow the TOS. Heck I wouldn't be surprised if many of the newer ones even read before they signed on the dotted line.
