i just a zc tranny for 50.00 thinkin about swappin it in my 4-door. i dont need to change the flywheel and clutch do i? i dont think i do just makin sure!!! i also heard one time that u change the final drive in a zc tranny to a si final drive the gear ratio is alot closer. i have 2 ex/si hydro tranny's in my shed will the final drive out of those work in a cable tranny?? i have plans on a homemade turbo for my daily driven 4-dr. SLEEPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For the FD you will probably only want to use the ring gear and not the whole FD.
The diff on the ZC is different than the Si and requires different axles. If you use the Si diff then you will need to change out to Si type axle seals as well so it doesn't leak.
ZC diff will be better for your homemade turbo plans. Having the ZC axles in there will reduce the torque steer a lot. An LSD would even make it better.
Yes, ZC gearsets do make the gears quite a bit closer. People have found that using the Si 1,2, and 5 along with the ZC 3 and 4 is a good combonation for daily street driving.
I'm using all 5 ZC gears with an Si FD. It's cool for street, but if you need to roll on the freeway it's really not that good. RPM starts climbing at about 65.
