Default Cable Vs Hydro Transmission in EF

Would it be worth the extra trouble and cost to go with a hydro transmission over a cable type? I have searched and found that the cable LS1 accepts the hydro parts quite easily. I was planning on getting a hydro setup but found a good deal on a cable mount setup.

when i had a EF hatch with a b16 i just stuck with the cable tranny. didnt seem to be worth the extra trouble to convert to hydro. cable transmisions are lighter than hydro also, someone correct me if i am wrong on that.

it is easier to go with cable yes.................but they are getting harder and harder to find in good shape. People running the mess out of 15+ year old trannies......at least with hydro you have alot of options of newer trannies with less mileaege

this is true. i would rather have a hydro tranny but like i said, i didnt feel like spending the extra money and going through the extra trouble to convert.

if you are willing to spend the extra money and time, then do it, it is definitely worth it.

Is it possible to use the D-series hydro tranny in the 88-91 Civic/CRX? Will the mounts line up? Is there a kit to convert from cable to hydro? Can you just convert the car to a master/slave cylinder from the 92 and newer Civics? Would this be possible without hacking and welding. 88-91 D-Series trannys are getting hard to find too.

As far as I know, the mounting is different with D-series cable and hydraulic transmissions. The mounts won't line up. As far as mount kits, I have not heard of one. So you are probably on your own as far as this one goes. Also, I am not so sure the Hasport actuator will work on a D-series transmission.

the hydro trannys can handle more power...big shaft = more power small shaft = breakage.
