Default Top mount for s2k

I was looking yesterday at some pics and came across a pic of a s2k with a top mount intercooler. with the radiator tilted back at an angle. I do believe the car was ashow car only due to the fact how clean it was kept. Any one ever seethis car before or any other s2k with a top mount. It was the cleanest turbo setup i have seen.

TIA

Its a racing design. I know a lot of the Turbo S2Ks that run in Japan are that way. Supposedly, it increases airflow & downforce. I think the J spec turbo S runs this setup.

and shorter IC piping. Once I get my turbo kits solidified, I will be converting to this style. Itll go hand-in-hand with the vented hood on the car(after some baffling is made).

the RS-R s2000 has this setup.... it's a racing design to optimize flow.... with the V shapped setup, it allows air from the front of the car to flow to both intercooler and radiator.... in a conventional setup where the front mount intercooler is in front of the radiator, it prevents a lot of air from reaching the radiator.. in return causing some overheating issues.... but now with the V-mount shape it allows even air to go to the intercooler (for cooling of the air) and to the radiator (for cooling of the engine).... it's a very simple design, and it works....

it was first tested out in japan on gtr's and silvias, and has now trickled down to most drift cars...

I know the AEM s2000 has that top setup too. its running some king of a apexi turbo i saw it at SEMA so i really dont know the hardcore details. alot of the drift cars have that setup. i have also seen a few RX7s with it too.

There's actually a company making an awesome turbo kit that uses a V-mount. From what I have seen, it's one of the best kits on the market. They're one of the best tuners out there for the RX-7.

"A-spec GT Turbo kit for the Honda S2000
This kit includes a custom spec GT Series dual ball bearing turbo, V-mount intercooler radiator setup, fuel system, ECU. All lines fittings and hardware. 300RWHP @ 6psi! All of our stainless Tubular manfiolds and stainless downpipes are hand crafted!

.... and dont forget all manifolds and downpipes come with a lifetime warranty!

PRICE : Please call for pricing options."

i wouldn't concider it the best till it's gone though the mileage test of reliablitiy.... do you happen to have a dyno sheet for this 300rwhp at 6psi?? and what other mods it's got?

I'm not saying it's the best, but I do believe it has been much better thought out and engineered than 90% of the kits out there (Elda and Full-Race are also VERY impressive in my book). I talked with them back March before I even bought my S2000 and was very impressed (at the time I had done a custom turbo install on my Z34 and had also tuned a TEC3 on a Polaris 600cc RMK 2-stroke). Now, I've done a custom turbo on my S2000 and done all of the AEM tuning myself and I'm still impressed.

There was one guy on s2ki.com who made more power with less/the same boost with a kit from cjb80, but this is the most I have seen from a production kit at that boost level (though full-race is probably right there also).

From what he told me, they were researching multiple Garrett GT series turbos and were looking at one that would spool 1000 rpm sooner than other kits. At the time, they were going to use the Microtech ECU to do engine management. I have not talked with them since then, but have read up on them quite a bit on the rx7club.com forum and have seen nothing but good reviews. I would have definitely used their kit myself if it had been ready when I put my kit together. Their planning, parts choices, and quality seem to be top notch, though I do not know if they have even sold a single S2000 kit yet. FYI: I am not affiliated with them in any way.

Here was the original thread on the RX-7 forum with some details about the kit. I am not sure if any details have changed or not, it's probably best to call them.

sounds good.. the elda kit is made for daily driving.... (i hate all those heat sheilds they put on) but they do serve a purpose...

as for the full-race.. i haven't heard much about it..

A-spec Tuning Kit is great!!!
when i was at there it did about 290 on 5ish Lbsof boost...Unfortunately he did not have a boost controller at the time so the waste gate would just bleed the boost off, its the power band thats amazing, The car has i belive 550's in it/fuel pump/vmount/ and for now its running an AEM EMS, but should be switching to a microtec...GT garret turbo spools very quickly, the car deffinitely hit 4lbs by 2500rpm... The car puts down the power very well...but then again Nikos car has 285/30/18 BFG's on the back... BUT, unfortunately i do not have a dyno sheet to bak up the words...keep a look out for this car on the upcoming season...

The car that was done by A-spec Tuning is my car. That kit you see above is the test kit. The fininshed kit looks alot better. But on to everyones ? about what is includied with this kits is turbo(garrett gt) ,mianfold, downpipe (3 in.), wastegate , aem ems, intercooler, radiator, fuel pump, 550 cc inj, fpr, oil relocation kit, oil cooler, all lines and fittings, piping, and most important to any v-mount is proper ducting.

So its a real complete kit. the only thing you need to choose from is what gauges you want , Bov and clutch.

also i see that someone was asking about the r&d this car has gone through. 4 months of hard drive on the street now it has stop for 2 months do to weather. once april comes around the car will be hitting all the local road racing tracks in the mid-west. All i can say for now is that the temps stay real low and the car drives great.

well i have to go back to work sorry for how everything is typed up really busy at work.

P.s. car made at 5-6 psi 300 rwhp and alittle over 200 tq ( a/f real rich 11.5 the car will be retuned to 8psi in spring and tested on the track with that boost setting.) oh and full boost under 3,000 rpm
