Best Transmission for B16a2
I got a B16a2 longblock and i'm wondering what the best transmission to mate it to is. I was thinking the 99-00 Civic Si tranny, but i'm wondering if the GSR is better or what the best option is. Thanks.
stick with the b16 transmission unless you want something weird from your car like good gas economy on the highway....
Honda mated them for a reason.... and the b16 transmission has shorter gears for faster acceleration....if you have too much power you wont be able to get it to the ground because of the shorter gears... ie then you should use the gsr..... good luck i hope this helps

stick with the b16 tranny, unless you can get a type-r trans that has the 4.7 final drive.
i say this do the fact that the b16 doesn't make much tq and the revs need to be high when u want to move.

i would say it would be more like a usdm itr tranny. i could've sworn that ctr and 98+jdm itr had the 4.7fd compared to 4.4fd in the us itr/si/gsr.
i could be wrong though.

If you're going to spend the money, buy a Type-R tranny w/LSD. I did. The difference in acceleration is noticeable. It will also take a bit more abuse than the others. As for gas mileage. It's all in how you drive your car.

nope, the CTR trannies have the 4.4 FD, as did the pre 98's ITR. the 98+ does have the 4.785FD though.

it depends on how your going to be using your car if auto cross use a taller geared trannie if you are going to be draging use a shorter gear tranny....either way go with a LSD i have 93cx hatch w/ b16a mated w/ ctr tranny and Kaaz LSD works
