brake light goes on even car is off, is this normal? and possible short?
Hi, well first of all I have a question, is it normal for the brake lights to go on while the brake pedal is depressed with the car off? cause mine does that. 2. my car is having trouble holding charge, i've tested the battery already and the battery is fine but haven't had a chance to test the alternator yet. I was wondering could the brake lights have a cause for the battery to lose it's charge? if so how can this problem b fixed. thx.
Yes it's normal for your brake lights to come on, even if the car isn't cranked. Same as your "flashers" those will also work even without the key turned.
what about if you aren't pressing on the pedal? what would cause the lights to stay on?
Does the car die while your driving it? If so, then you alternator is going bad.
If it just wont start sometimes, you might have something that is drawing power from the battery while the car is turned off. Its called parasitic draw.
