Default crx / civic differences?

Are there any major differences between the civic hatches and the crx? Besides the body, interior etc.... Are they pretty much the same chasis, engine and tranny?

well...the motors are pretty much similar, the chassis are almost alike....its just the 88-89's have to stay together for the civic and crx'x and the 90-91's have to stay together...but other than that they all are pretty much intechangeable....except tail lights and corner lights....

Chassis-wise, pretty similar. Engine-wise, damn near identical - except there wasn't a Civic HF. Instead, there was a Civic STD, which got vinyl seats, no center console, and they had a 4-speed manual transmission instead of the HF's 5-speed.

Si Civics got a glass moonroof that slides into the roof, while Si CRXs got a metal sunroof that slides OVER the roof.

'90-'91 CRX Si's got rear disk brakes, but the Civic Si didn't.

CRX Si's came with standard 14" alloy wheels. Civics came with steelies and hubcaps.

The only KNOWN body panel that will swap between the '88-'91 Civic and CRX is the hood. All other body panels are different, and tend to go in 2-year runs ('88-'89, and '90-'91).

There are other differences, of course, but the basic suspension and engine/transmission stuff is generally interchangeable. Rear trailing arms might be different lengths between the two models; they were on the '84-'87 ones. Found that one out the hard way!

Cool, thanks for the info. I found a shift linkage and pedal assembly out of an 88, I just want to be sure the stuff will work in my 91.
