Default EXPO 5: Mid America Motorplex

Thought I'd pull these off the website and put them up here so all of you can see what your going to miss if you don't pay up, and those of you who did, can see what they will be driving on.

I think the guy in the video is in a Camero or a Mustang. Thing sounds like it's got some serious torque, and I think he shifted/downshifted twice.
http://www.midamericamotorplex....mpeg

Here is an aerial photo:

Plenty of sand to stop you when you brake pads fail.

Here is the track layout:

Track Stats:
Length: 2.23 miles (3.58 Kilometers)
Width: 40ft (12.19 Meters)
Longest Straight: 2,222ft (677.2 Meters)
# of Corners: 15
Paddock Area: 13 Acres (0.0526091 square kilometer)

NOTE: I watched several videos where the local police force trained on the track, so no stupid antics when off the track!

Aloha,
Brandon

Due to posts below, I thought I'd clarify and modify. THIS IS A DRIVING SCHOOL WHERE YOU WILL LEARN DRIVING TECNIQUES AND TRACK SAFTEY. THIS IS NOT BY ANY MEANS, A RACE!!! I was merely making light of a fun topic and talking trash. No puns intended. I appoligize to those that I mislead and misinformed.

Aloha,
Brandon

In all seriousness, if you plan owning people out there, then I hope I'm not out there w/you. for people that think it's a race.

Thank God somebody finally said this! Its fun to joke about, but at times i feel like all anyone cares about is "rolling" somebody!

joo can ride with me so you can see 'roll'n roll'n roll'n'

actually - I've got rides planned for about all of my sessions unless I end up instructing

BudMan hopes everyone 'jokes' about roll'n & nobody takes it serious. We should all walk away a much better driver for life and track.

On that note, my above post...

Point is simple, egos are NOT needed on the track. Have fun, but be safe...that's the main concern.

Also, the trash talking isn't exactly going to bring alot of new, rookie ITR owners out because they'll be afraid.

&lt;----who has noticed a much different vibe in the expo threads this year.

Not sure what that means, but if it's what I think it is...I'm only posting for expo related stuff.

Why?

EDIT: On second thought, this thread is another reason why I shouldn't even bother anymore

Hopefully, we will have a bunch of novices. I've been working hard on trying to get new people out & off the street. Not much luck yet, but as I said - everyone will be a better driver - that's the goal. Fun will come on and off the track.

If we have accidents - guarantee there won't be future events AND guarantee that anyone doing something stupid or overly aggressive will be shut-down immediately. NO REFUND.

Does that help put the Expo Committee perspective in place?

Yep, jackassery won't be tollerated. like this thread imo.

However. The attitude that prevails a good deal of the time from those who are not used to the HPDE/track day environment seems to be one of trash talk and competition.

Last time I checked this was a driving event, not a race. You can all pass me, I do not care. If that makes you feel good, whatever. I'd be more concerned with being safe, shaving time on the track by being efficient and learning how to handle your car and yourself. and leaving room for your fellow driver out on the track. i guess the word would be mature and considerate. (and responsible) It's not as if a few laps and you know everything - its a long learning process.

Try to be a bit humble. Sure some is a joke between friends, thats cool. but some posts/threads are all about who I passed at x event, how i drifted around this or that corner, and how no one passed me. Whoopdedoo!!

chris - who felt increasingly unsafe at certain events last year (not expo) because more and more people feel the need to act like this (not leaving ANY room on the track for a slower car in front, very dangerous), talk like this, etc.

I was just joking around. Referring to this:
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by cheezthis &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">OMG11!!!!11! I posted on h-t again...I need to stop.</TD></TR></TABLE>

I think it's all in good fun. Brandon's a good guy, and his only intention was to drum-up excitement for the Expo. Oh, well, maybe it was also to brag about his theoretical turbo setup in his theoretical car that he hasn't even gotten home yet. Maybe that's why he has so much free time...

Chris N, Cheezthis, others... I agree 100% about everything said about the proper attitude for sharing a track with 25 other drivers. This is NOT a race. It will be made abundandly clear at all drivers meetings. Instructors will take that seriously, and enforce safety margins (and safe following distances). If the instructor can't manage the student's behavior, the student and instructor need to work things out with the safety steward (new instructor or eject student). Play by the rules, or get kicked off the track. No refunds. I can't imagine the Expo being managed any other way.

Off the track, I don't really care about who brags about what, or what trash talking happens. That's me, I can see how it could get old, but I personally enjoy it. People are ********* online, it's a brave new world, and I don't mind being part of the problem.

Oh well, I gotta try to get some sleep.... See you all at Expo!

I am well aware that this is a driving school. Thanks for pointing that out. I was merely making fun. No puns intended.

Koala....I don't even know how to respond to you. It's quite obvious your a very negative person with little to no sense of humor. Now I could be wrong, because I'm sure you have friends that would stick up for you because of this statement, but hey, that's what friends do.

Funny thing is, is I do have good things to say and will not become a recluse because you don't like me. I could really give a **** if you do or not. Further more, I don't wonder around all day trying to win the hearts of everyone I come in contact with. If you, ten others or a hundred others don't like me, so be it. I'm not going to lose sleep over it. However, your negative comments, make you look like the anti social guy, not me.

Though you never have anything nice to say to me, and am quite sure never have anything nice to say about me is fine. I respect you as a person and respect your opinions. Can you say that about yourself? I doubt it.

Human contact is a very interesting thing. Many people do not understand it, and some who do, are to lazy to learn it in depth. Naturally people are going to attract when there is common understanding for one another. I do understand you, but you don't understand me and probably could care less too. We are oil and water, so what? I'll keep on posting, and you can just keep on posting about how I should "just stop posting" or leave or die or whatever it is you feel when you read my posts. Have a good one.

Aloha,
Brandon - Chris F, thanks for the 97' Brochure. That was the best birthday present I've gotten in quite some time!
