ticking on 94 accord?
I just looked at a 1994 Accord EX, 5spd, 160,000 miles. The car drove great, except while under load, the engine made a ticking noise that could be heard from the passanger compartment while accelerating. Although reving the engine at idle it did not make the noise at all. What could this be? Any cause for concern? It is also about 11 degrees here if that has anything to do with it. should i buy this car? they are asking $3000

my guess is the valves just might need adjusted. considering it was cold like you said i wouldnt worry to much about it. the motor in my accord has 70k on it and it ticks alot more noticably when it's cold like this (it's colder than 11 here). 3k doesnt sound like a bad deal to me assuming it's not rusted out or anything and has a clean title.
under a load..? is it a tick or a knock? my 94 developed the same sound under hard acceleration couple months later it staarted to happin all the time, and got louder.
pulled the engine because at this time it started blowing alot of smoke, pulled the oil pan off and there were metal shaving in the pan the sound was from a bad rod bearing

That's interesting... I had a 94 lx blow an engine once, it was the rod bearing. It happened a year or so ago. I was told that "the noise is normal" then BOOOOM!
Hey and you're from Wilmington too, what a coincidence hah
