Default cat bolt length (spring side)

the bolts on my cat with the spring is rounded, im gonna cut the bolt in half
but before i do that i want to know how long the bolt is so i can replace it

does anyone know the length ?? also i was at the local hardware store and they have grade5 and grade8 bolts
which grade is good for the cat or does it not matter ??

I just bought some cheap bolts, nuts and washers from Home depot. Just reuse the spring from the spring bolts.

I got ones that were a bit longer than I thought (just to be safe) and threaded completely so I didnt really even have to measure. They're probably like 3.5" long. Working fine since last summer.

The threaded portion of the bolt is 8mm
so that or a 5/16" would probably work.

Overall length including the head is 70mm.
Here is a pic for reference:

Be carefull when you cut the bolt! My friend almost had his eye taken out cutting the bolts on my del sol. THe bolt just missed his head and left a dent in my frame!!1
