Default TintKits.com: Do it yourself or not ??

We are a new Honda-Tech sponsor and have received alot of good inquires from you guys so far. In order to make our products and services at http://www.TintKits.com as best as possible and understand customer viewpoints, we would like to ask this simple question:

If you can buy a pre-cut tint kit and save money, would you do it yourself? Or would you be more likely to take your car to a tint shop?

If you would prefer to take your car to a tint shop, then why?

Thanks for providing us with the feedback!

It would really depend on how much I was saving. I couldn't really say until I saw that. But more than likely, I would take it to a tint shop. The reason being, if something happened to it prematurely, hopefully they would be willing to fix it. Also, it's something that I just don't really know how to install myself and I would be afraid of messing it up.

Hmm rather interesting...i have thinking about getting tints, but always figured i would take it to a shop just b/c i had never really seen another other tint crap; other than the **** they sell at like pep boys. This stuff looks halfway decent, and the price isnt too bad either...i dunno im gonna look into this stuff. Any specials for H-T members?

Yes, use discount code: Honda-Tech

This will give you a 10% discount. Plus, in January we're shipping your orders for FREE if you spend more than 50 bucks.

Thanks,

Not a bad proposition. My friends and i always make fun of those pre-cut ghetto-tint purple diy jobs and id rather not end up being a hypocrite. Any chance you could outline the process of doin it yourself? i've always been curious as to what goes into tinting windows.. do you have to remove the pane of glass to fully fit it? You know..the basic stuff. i think people would like the idea more if the method were posted.

Damn, that sounds like a lot of work. I think I'll just have a professional do mine.

Those instructions are very detailed. Here is a better version:

1) Be Patient
2) Wet Film and Window
3) Apply and Squeegie

Thanks,
Ron

Tried to do it myself once. Long story short I took it to a tint shop. A pre-cut kit may be alright, IF if fit perfect.

1 - I dont have any
2 - windows are always dirty no matter how much i clean them.
3 - i would tear it, then have to get another one or take it to a shop anyhow.

also 97-01 prelude kit is $70 bucks. plus the cleaner at $6.95 and the install kit at 15.95 plus shipping and or tax come out to roughly $100. the average price for a 2 door vehicle is $120. just the possibility of ******* it up isnt worth saving $20 to me.

its a great idea, and for some it works well. but not for me.

good luck though.

We appreciate all of your honest comments and are aware that alot of consumers don't trust their skills to install window tint.

Our service brings high quality film directly to the consumer. This allows them to save money and still have a lifetime warranty product on their windows.

We have also implemented a generous replacement policy, allowing installers to order replacement patterns at minimal costs. So far, we have had minimal returns, telling us that the tint jobs are successful. We're hoping to add a customer gallery soon.

Again, the comments are appreciated and we're open to all ideas or suggestions.

Thanks,
Ron Raley
