Is it broke or are we retarded?
This sub we are working on causes the whole stereo to cut out at about a 8 on the volume of the HU. We took it out and the stereo works fine with out it. Then we took it out of the box and check the sub and its fine looking all connnections are made and all that ****. We took it in and hooked it up to the house stereo and the sub made my house stereo cut out at a certain volume. To make a long story short were both wondering "WTF Mate"
I didnt really look much at the set up (hes gone now) but he said the other is hooked up just the same and no problems. Even when we switch the subs around, the one was still problematic.
I didnt think a blown speaker could cause other components to **** the bed. And I dont think its too much/not enough power cuz it worked for a while then just stopped.
If the voicecoil has a short in it, that would definitely cause amp to cutout. Does the whole system run off a single amp? And do all of the other speakers cut out as well? I say your speaker is shot.
And I wouldn't hook up a car sub to a normal home system, because most home audio systems are designed for 8 ohms, and your sub is probably 4 or lower. It's possible to make your home system cutout like that, even with a brand new car sub. Depends on the equipment though.
