Is this common? Do these trannys suck? I need some opionons. Are these good or bad trannys? Im only 17 and my mom wants to replace the auto tranny and from what ive herd they suck... i want to do a swap but its too hard to do myself and there is no 1 around here that will do it... So any comments on if they are good or bad

Yeah the 6th gen (mostly just 98-00 tho) auto trannys are known to be weak, even at stock power levels. I'd look into a manual swap if its possible, your just asking for trouble with another auto tranny (unless you can find an auto tranny for pretty cheap). Good luck tho!

burn the AUTO burn it!!!

im on my second one and it feels like its jumping on the 2nd gear..and its only been about 1k miles since i got it rebuild, the accord is a great car but the auto trannys make them look bad. go manual swap its probly cheaper then rebuilding the auto i paid 1,800 for mine and i feel it failling already..

Whoa! Not so fast there...the official Honda warranty extension applies to 2000 and 2001 Accords, up to 100k miles. There have been a lot of postings on Honda forums that other years' failures have been covered for the trans only in certain situations (you pay labor), but only if you make a big stink with your dealer and with Honda corporate if necessary.

Unfortunately, I don't think you have a shot with 119k on a 1998...

Do automatic transmissions have their own serial numbrs ? If so, where they are located ?

Also, for those who got their tranny's repalce by HONDA, what are the new tranny serial numbers ??

yes they do have a serial # on them on a sticker but also they have a encrypted code that is engraved in the trans case ...that is how my friend got his type r trans back ... the thief removed the vin tag but the highway patrol told me thatit is a encrypted code that they can decode and tell you the vin # or the serial # of the part ...
