Default Balancing weights on aftermarket rims / tires

This isn't eg+ specific, but this is the forum I'm in most of the time.

When you get aftermarket rims balanced, where are the weights placed? I'm looking into getting some rotas, and I don't want the weights placed on the outside edge of the rim, where they are visible and ugly

I was told by the guys doing the group buy on rotas in the sponsor's marketplace forums that the weights would go "on the outside of the rim, ...using the flat ones that stick on."

anyone have any pictures of these weights or can anyone tell me where they have their balancing weights placed?

thanks

When I had my Si wheels mounted, they put weights on the inside of the rim with some sort of adhesive. I've also seen them clipped to the inside lip just as they would be on the outside of a steel wheel.

they have weights that are placed on the inside of the rim(weight>>-)<<tire) but you have to ask for them before you pay money for the shop to balance the rims in case they dont have them

yea, my rims have the weights on teh inside flat part of the rim, not on the lip. the lip on my rims is a little large for them to even try and put a weight on there... so they couldnt even if they wanted to, lol.

thanks for the replies.
so from what I quoted the rota guy as saying ("regarding the weights, they place them on the outside of the rim, they use the flat ones that stick on."
does it sound to you guys like I'm gonna have weights marring the appearance of my new rims?

yeh, that's what I thought. guess I'd be better off buying the rims and then having a local place mount and balance them, and specifiying that the weights must bee non-visible or whatever
