I have the greddy turbo kit for my 01GSR and I want to go with an external wastegate. So what do I need to do in order to convert from the internal one in the Greddy/Mitsu turbo to the external type?

Why bother with the external?? Internal has been good to me for 10 months now..Any reason in particular?

The only way you would be able to run an external gate on the Greddy set up would be to drill/torch/machine a hole into the exhaust manifold and weld a flange onto it...this is probably not a good idea for two reasons- first, the manifold has an internal divider that would be difficult to remove and second cast iron does not like to be welded...

 

You can have your internal wastegate ported if it becomes not sufficient.....
