What is the engine code from a 98 accord. I know the 96 accord ex is F22B1.

i already did. Most people are talking about h22a swaps.. and not what i'm needing to know.

 

98 - 02 accord have a f23a1 or a4 if they are vtec, non-vtec dx gets the f23a5

yes they will bolt up to a 96 accord tranny

you wil have a wiring issue with the iacv, save the old one off of your f22b1. there will be some other issues as well. nothing you can't solve if you sit down and look over the wireing diagrams though.

All 4 cyl. Accord trannies 90-2001 are the same case and will bolt up to each of the F series motors of the same years. The issues are tranny mount placement,and control solenoids for auto trans.

Does that imply that a 98 accord engine will bolt up to a 96 accord tranny?

 

Yup. I believe the tranny mount bolt pattern on the 98 is spaced wider than the 96. You may have to tap holes in the case. A manual swap is easy as pie, But an auto swap may be more of a pain due to diffrent ecu pin outs and shift control solenoids. You may have to do some home work to make this swap work. All I can gurantee is that the trans WILL bolt to the motor no problem.

 

well.. i plan on reusing the 96 accord transmission.. so i wouldnt have to worry bout tranny mounts.

i'm just now shopping for an engine.. can somebody tell me why this junkyard in ft worth wants $660 for a 96 accord engine with 82k miles, but only want $368 for a 00 accord engine with 16k miles? It just doesn't make sense. It's not the specific motor either. They just price the 94-97 accord ex engines alot more than the 99-01 accord engines 4 cylinder vtec for some reason. Is there something i dont know?
