Default What's the best way to fix Motorcycle plastics?

I had a wreck back in July and now all I have left is to fix the plastics and I'm good to go. The problem is the tail section teh most. I 12'ed the tail when I wrecked around 60mph and it broke the end of the tail about 5-6" from the end. Now the middle was a clean break and on each side of the back of the tail is gone around 1 1/2" space. Is there some way of using long hair fiberglass to fill that in? Or would plastic welding fix it. Or some type of material to put behind the tail where the gap is and then use fiberglass to smooth it out after it was plastic welded to the tail?

And some tabs were broke is there any way on fabing up something for that?

These are my ideas but just want to get a opinion on them first. thanks and I have a couple of people that do bodywork so they know how to use the materails that would be needed.

i would go and get the pieces plastic welded and from the inside lay some fibergalss to strangthen it also and then use a body filler on the outside to smooth everything out and you should be good after that without any problems
good luck with it
i would first check on ebay for parts because you can find them fairly cheap and in good shape sometimes
good luck

Thanbks that's what I thought would be best. My grandpa and my friend who do body work said the same but just wanted to get a idea first from the rest of the world.

I check Ebay daily for my bike parts and they just get crazy in prices for my bike for some reason. Even broken fairings sell for alot. So that's why I'm just gonna fix mine and save $ cause I'd have to fix most on ebay anyway.

Well I'd buy new ones to but I have 2 kids and a house, my bike , 01 jetta, 3 other loans and all the everyday bills so it's kinda hard to just go out and buy new plastics. But I wish I could. I still keep an eye out for deals but just wanted to see about doing this. If it can be done this way then there is no reason to get new ones unless you want a stock look which I don't. But that's me I love my WRX blue on a kawi.

wanna know the fun part? these are new plastics for a ducati 996 (major $$$) If you wanted, you could just get a full set of race bodywork, get some led's for the turn signals and tailights, custom mount em, then custom make some headlights from some little piaa driving lights or something

Yeah I looked at sharkskinz since there the only company that offers race or street plastics for my bike. My friend bought some and did it that way with his F3.

Damn Ducati 996 huh F that. lol but nice bikes.
