Hey guys, I searched for this but couldnt find what I needed.

Alright so heres the problem, when i turn on my heater or a/c theres a rattling kind of noise coming from the lower dash on the passenger side. The noise is most noticable on level one, but you can hear it all the way through.

The previous owner of the car took the vents out and painted them white, could a clip have fallen into the fan? Dont worry, I stripped the paint off of them as soon as I got it.

Someone else thought that it might be a bearing in the fan motor or something.

Please help, this is so annoying, and with it being cold I need my heater

sounds like the fan is rubbing the shroud. mine does it occasionaly. i havent found a reason for it but a good smack or kick usually stops it.

 

Yea sometimes its not there at all, then others its just so annoying. Any possible way to at least minimize the sound, like some grease or something?

 

I highly dought its a "bearing." If the noise get's louder as you increase the speed and the noise is coming from under the passenger side, then its gotta be your squirrel cage. Just take the plenum out from under the dash and check it out. I know its a pain but ya gotta do it.
