my 1990 Civic Si HB's mirrors do not stay folded in why

 

I don't think that they are supposed to dude. At least both of the CRX's I have owned, they seem to pop back out by themselves. I think it may be some kind of mechanism to keep the mirrors from being broken off, like when someone walks into them.
