VW Corrado Rotor on CRX?
Searched and found this but doesn't say much https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=968198
Has anyone done the big brake swap with EX or DA knuckles & ITR/Accord wagon calipers and instead of getting the Prelude rotor redrilled 4x100 used the 1990 VW Corrado G60 rotors?
If so does anyone know if a hubcentric ring needed?
And what size hubcentric ring was used?
And any other info that is vital that I have missed.
Thanks

Can't give you any kind of definitive answers, BUT I can offer a llitle help/advice...
A buddy of mine has the FastBrakes Big Brake kit on his CRX. He confirms that it does indeed use the Corrado G60 rotors. I wouldn't assume they're a direct fit - you probably will need some spacers/hubcentric rings/etc to get the fitment just right.
I do in fact own a '91 Accord wagon (5-speed, too!
). I don't know if the front calipers are a direct replacement for the ITR ones, or if they're the same part or not (I should check with my buddy who has an ITR, though), but I *can* say that that wagon uses some big-*** rotors. They're different from the other Accords, and they're pricey (about $90 each at AutoZone, versus the $18 each I paid for CRX rotors at the same store). They're usually special-order, too, even at the dealership. Accord wagons aren't exactly common...
Anyway, it wouldn't surprise me if the wagon calipers were the same as the ITR ones, or at least close. They do clamp down on some large rotors (11+ inches, I'd guess).
For my money, though, I'll stick with OEM-sized rotors for my CRX, and rely on better pads (Porterfield R-4S) and fluid (ATE SuperBlue Racing, or Valvoline Heavy Duty - I've used both with great results, but the Valvoline is about 1/4 the cost of the ATE), and stainless brake lines. I've never had a braking problem with this setup on my CRX autocross car, and its rare to find a car that will outbrake it.
Bigger rotors are fine for bigger and heavier cars, but not necessary for our little CRXs. They *do* look sweet, though - but they also add a good amount to the unsprung weight the suspension has to cope with.

Thanks for the info.
Im sure there is something out there that would be a direct bolt on, we just need to find it.
It would also be helpful to find out exactly what fastbrakes is doing to the the corrado rotors. Anybody with info please post it

Kwicko you are correct ITR and Accord Wagon calipers are essentially the same. I have the ATE and better pads but there are a few stretchs on the road courses IE Road Atlanta, VIR that are killing my brakes at the ends when I come down from 100mph+ thus why I would like to try the larger setup. Whether it will work I'll let everyone know after this years trips.
I just don't want to have to get Prelude rotors redrilled. I have heard that Corrado rotors run 11.X" and have 4x100 bolt patern but no one has anything like this or hasn't shared yet. I get worse comes to worse I'll run redrilled just a pain in my pee pee.
Any yes I love the little CRX and its wonderful ability to stop quicker than just about everything. And the 15/16MC helps mine a little too. The SS line are coming just haven't got them yet

ok, i was going to do this setup as well, it was corrado rotors which are either 11.0 or 11.1 inches. and Integra calipers (non-type r). At the time fastbrakes sold just the hardware kit/brackets for a pretty decent price compared to the rest of the kit. Sorry i cant be more of help on this one...

Nope works just fine. I called up fast brakes. They use the VW rotor and u have to use the accord caliper or integra caliper to use their upgrade. Dude why bother trying to buy all the parts seperate? Its only 200 from fast brakes then u just buy caliper, i believe thats how it was. But for my crx in the rear im doing the VW 11.0 rotors with my stock caliper just the brackets arrange it in the right place. Fastbrakes.com has it all. My brakes set-up is 11in VW in the rear and wilwood 12.2 in the front with aluminum 4 piston calipers. U can also use the 89 accord LXI master cylinder its alot bigger and feeds the brakes great.

Did they say anything about having to use of hubcentric ring? I know the kit from Fastbrakes is only $200 but I have only $100 in it with EX spindles, 15/16MC, and ITR calipers. If I couldn't find that stuff then Fastbrakes would be the way to go

Well, if you go to Fastbrakes' site, the phrase "hub rings" are included in the kit.
To verify, you could call Brian directly, he's very easy to deal with.
Been almost 2 years since we installed my Wilwood kit from them, and unfortunately I don't remember.

if you have civic ex knuckles and ITR calipers, then all you need is Prelude VTEC rotors redrilled and your all set...
