Pics of my GSR autopsy.. ewwwww! *56K die!*
I think they should make a movie out of my Honda life, only at the 'based on a true story' part would anybody belive the crap that can happen to one person
On with the gore:

Notice the peice of aluminum in the pic above, that's actually cylinder #1 and that piece actually embedded itself in the head leaving that little indent near the shard

Notice the edges of the pistons and the 'knicks' along the edges..

What I know:
Block is trash (deep scores in sleeve #4), perfect for re-sleeve, no $$ here for that.
Head is trash, thankfully Mpr3 will swap mine for a clean one
What scares me:
Lots of 'knicking' along the edges of pistons 1-3
Possible rod damage where piston #4 was punctured
Based on the photos, and I know they aren't perfect, but you can proabably see that cylinders 1-3 were full of aluminum shards when I removed the head. Also, the corresponding pistons took a bit of a beating from these shards leaving little 'knicks' on some of the flat edges. Needless to say, this worries me greatly. Has abybody esle seen this kind of damage to pistons and still had the car run well? Will a machine shop be able to smooth out the imperfections? At this point this is my greatest concern simply because I'm not in a position to spend an extra $400+ for a new set of pistons and rings along with the work i've already gotten myself into. Any feedback would be apprieciated.

You mean the valve "keepers?" I don't think the retainers function in holding the valves at all.

The other 3 pistons are probably ok. A sleeve liner may fix the block. Probably best to swap heads It can be repaired but would be expensive. Running stock springs and retainers can cause these results
sucks man, i was just watching the video of you racing M.A.R.C. that was posted not too long ago. the damage is worse than i thought
. i was just expecting to see one broken valve, not 2.
i was also suprised as im sure you were to see that there was metal nicks and pieces in all of your cylinders...im not sure how that would happen.
good luck with the rebuild/ with whatever setup you choose to do next.
