My Custom IC Specs, Opinions?
Anyone see any downsides of this IC?
2" backdoor inlet, 2.5" side outlet
24x8x3.5" bar and plate core
I designed the end tanks and overall size to fit my vehicle.

The only thing I think you need look at is probably the placement of the backdoor inlet. It looks a little low. I don't know what mani you will be using but from most of the backdoor setups i've seen the inlet is higher on the endtank.

will it effect flow? and I am not using the standard manifodl with this, the backdoor inelt will not be directly ifnront of the turbo, there is about another 12" of IC pipping between inlet and turbo(turbo is on passenger side)
I jsut looked at pics of my car now with the old log style manifold and the turbo compressor(if on driver side and poitned forward) come very close to my IC inlet so it'd be fine anyways if Iw ere to be donig that.
I jstu relooked over my design and it looks like I have just enoguh room to move the 2" inlet up so taht it sits in the very middle of the IC end tank, then attleast it'll for sure get distribution through the entire IC then taper at the end to the outlet.
Well my comment wasn't really about flow, but more about fitment. When you clock your compressor outlet forward, does the mani sit the turbo low enough so it lines up correctly with your inlet on your IC. Also the lower the turbo sits, the harder it will be to get a good Oil return going for your turbo.

yeah I realized that, but as I said in a few posts up. my turbo is acutalyl no where near taht side. my comrepssor is on the passenger side. I'm only wanting to use back door style so it shortens my amonut of pipes. not to directly connect to the turbo like standard back door setups you see.
EDIT: Apparently it's good to have some baffling to help channel air evenly on the hot side with my setup.. so maybe I'll jsut have a plate welded in taht divdes the flow more evenly towards the top.

Hey tchleung I have been reading a few of your posts on intercoolers since we both bought the same mani and I too am looking for an intercooler who is going to make that for you ?
I do 3d modelling all the time, it's quick and easy and is alot easier to picture then looking at 2d layouts sometime. I don't find the need to showoff to anybody. And please explain your reasoning that back door IC's are gay.

for flow ude be far ahead to move the inlet up but not centered across from the outlet, and have it just come out the side like normal, but use maybe a a 90 degree cast aluminum thingy, kinda like some turbo compressor housing have, to make it turn 90 degrees, and distribute evenly to the rows in the core.

Haha what do you know, msot of us here have booste G2's! Sweet. :D And I'm running a CRFAB manifold not side winder style. can you Im me pics of your setup with the sidewidner? always thought they'red be clearence issues that's why I nevr bought it! damnit haha.

i run my charge pipes through the inner fenders and out the front for a smooth transition. Do you have A/C in the car why you want to route your plumbing that way? Anything making a 90 degree bend that doesn't have a mandrel bend that makes that 90 will effect flow to some degree, but it is not catasophic because its forced induction, it will get there regardless. Lots of people run that style for their intercoolers, especailly on Civics.

MIKE, yeah that is currently how I am running my pipes with my smalelr Spearco IC, reason I wanted to run backdoor was to shorten pipe length and to avoid having to go up through the fender by the washer fluid. my pipes are setup exactly the way you have it witht eh turbo outlet clocked up. I didn't really like taht so i wanted to run thigns totally differnet.. I'll either redesign the IC with a 90" mandrel bend right after the side of the IC, or run my original plan and drill through the fender toa void having to go up. right here http://gallery.tchleung.com/al...3.jpg
