!!!NEW PLEASE HELP 2003 Accord NAVI UNIT.!!!
My wife has a 2003 accord that did not have the NAVI system. She is wanting monitors in the headrest for the kids. She would also like to install a factory navi head unit in the car. We do not want the navi we just want the factory look and the screen. I know that multiple companies like PAC and sound gate make interfaces.
My question is if I purchase a Navi headunit from a wrecked car will I be able to plug it into my existing car harness and use it without the navi? Also will I be able to integrate DVD video feed to the head unit?
Thanks for your help in advance.

I would hope someone has a question for this one, this seems pretty interesting, I really dont know about this but i saw it and it looked catchy to read. I would suggest going to your local honda dealer and ask them a few questions, they always have the right answer(s)
....too an extent lol

ive seen that before, i think it requires some wiring to get done but its possible to get the stock unit and use it as part of a multimedia system. I wonder, you know you could possibly hook up a car PC, ive seen a car which ran its multimedia in the car through a car PC...that was awesome...
I work at the Honda dealership, and believe me, nobody at the dealership would be able to give you a straight answer to that one. If anything, they might try to dissuade you due to warranty concerns should you modify the unit.
Your best bet is to contact one of the interface companies directly. It is amazing what they are able to come up with these days......

instead of having it look just like the stock navi system, get the dash kit that replaces the bottom compartment (the compartment with the silver door that holds CD's) and get an aftermarket LCD. this is what i did because i have the non-navi 6 disc cd changer, and didn't find the need to get rid of it. so now i have the stock 6 disc cd changer AND a motorized LCD right below it hooked up to my PS2.
this unit should plug in directly and then PAC makes an adaptor I think that allows you to have a video and audio input into the factory monitor.

that is some pretty advanced wiring to be putting in your wife's daily driver......
id recommend that you just install lcd screens in the headrests, put a dvd player and tv tuner in the center console, center armrest (if you have one), or glove compartment.................. and leave it at that. you can find local deals for around 600-800 dollars installed.
as for the front screen an aftermarket dvd player is your best bet, unless you want to be the pioneer of OEM tv/navi systems in the accord

well Honda always drills you to tell the customers that you can not add the navi nor the RES (or DVD) systems to a vehicle...The units have to be installed from the factory.
I would definitely just get an aftermarket system if you do not already have the OEM products installed. It is probably possible to switch out an OEM unit from a totaled car...but cmrvi1 made a good point about voiding your warranty. And to tell you the truth, we replace a lot of units in the noew 03+ accords, so you definitely want a warranty if your **** goes out.
just my $.02
