CEL: stored code , how do i erase?
Yesterday, i was hype because i finally got the ef9'r ready for the highway once again. However as i plugged in my p28 computer, i did not plug in the c plug all the way in and as a result it triggered the cel light. I looked in my diagnostic sheet for code 8 and it is the tdc sensor. I though **** dist. down. Well, i check the ecu connection and the plug in the middle that house's the tdc and the other dizzy wires and it was not snaped in to place. I pluged it in all the way and the car runs fine with no cel light.
I then jump the timming connnector to verify if the code was erased complety and it was not. THe dam cel light stayed on while i had the timming connector jumped. I pulled the hzrd fuse to see if that would clear the code. It did not work. THis never happen before. and the light never stayed on like that.
I had this exprience before with a bad p 30 the vtec did not work because the board was fryed, and the light stayed on the same. ANy THeory about this ,anyone?

When you jumped the connector, the CEL would stay on solid, or blink?
If it stays on solid, thats normal, and should turn off when you un-jump the connector.

shouldnt you just take off your negative battery terminal for a few seconds?? Sorry if i misunderstood your question but try that if you havent.
That's what mine does. If the CEL comes on, indicating a code, I jump the connector and it'll flash the code. If the CEL is off, doesnt have a code stored, and I check for codes, it'll just come on solid.
As far as I know, this is normal.

same here, My P72 will do the same. I jump the service connector and if it stays solid theres no codes. if it blinks then there are. you unjump the connector and the CEL should go out. You can disconnect the negative terminal or pull the ECU/hazard fuse to clear any old codes.
