precautions on airconditioner removal...pls help...
i want to remove my airconditioner on my 97 ex because i notice i dont use it at all..... but i dont know wat to expect during the removal....can anybody let me know what i need to look for during this operation....thanks in advance
well you can do 2 things:
1) goto a a/c certified auto shop and have them drain the system (safe the evironment and saves you from a big fine)
2) **** it, drive it to the back yard, open the releaf valve it and save some $$
...my compressor blew apart geting on the freeway and it blew the antifreeze - oil all over my windsheild...so that took care that.
as far as removing it...pretty simple, after removing the compressor, just remove all the tubing from the engine bay and make sure you get the canaster out too...you'll see, very simple.

Take it to a shop and get it evacuated. Then take it home and remove it. Don't vent it to the atmosphere. If you get caught you will be fined by the EPA. Back in high school a friend of mine had to pay $5K in fees to the government for doing that.
thanks...thats what i wanted to know.....if i needed to drain it b4 i removed it....whether it was pressurized or not.....
