Vitara pistons in D16A6. Too Low C/R?
Just read 17 pages on the Vitara thread, doesnt seem lik anyone has tried them in a D16a6 motor.
Ive got a D16a6, head is milled .040 and I can go with a 2 layer headgasket if need be
Ive got a set of SRP's but knowone including me knows the comrpession of them and I dont wanna drop in 11:1 pistons, run 17psi on 93 octane and BOOM!
And my block is already honed for stock 75mm and would save machine shop money and I could sell the SRP's
I plan running them in @ 16-18psi on a t3 .60/.63 daily
Thanks for any imput

Ive got used eagle H beams with ARP 2000 rod bolts in there. Turned this into a major budget build
And I dunno where I read it but I heard .040 was a point of compression....
But does anyone have a compression ratio for the vitaras in a an A6 block n head

I was actually shooting for 10:1 before I found out I was scammed and given the wrong pistons
Jsut looking for an accurate compression in an A6 unmilled with a stock gasket
Is 7.8:1 correct or is it even lower?

It's the cool thing to do.
OT: Hell, compression's not the only factor in power. Proper turbo selection is too. Just a helpful thought

I dont want high compression, I want a useable powerband
I read that in a stock A6 they give a 7.8:1 ratio, obviously ***** low
But like I said my head is milled .040 and Im gonna run a small headgasket.
THe goal I want is atleast 9.3-9.7:1
Im running a T3 .60/.63, fairly big for a sohc but not a huge dyno fairy
I am also limited to 93 octane and the goal with the car is an 11 second slip
I dont care if it blows on the first run, as long as the slip says 11.XX @ 125+ Ill be a happy mother ******

1. There's no way you're going to trap 125 on vitara's.
2. 155psi across is NOT too low either.
3. turbodd16y7vtec just made 250whp @ 10psi with 155psi across the board. Stock block.
I like that 60 trim .60/.63 turbo

1.You havent seen my motor build
2.Slicks,LSD,equal length mani, fat turbo, 18psi, completely worked head = 300whp
Sooooooooooo much done to this motor for under $3000 including the turbo kit its not even funny
Ive also got N20 and lot of axles if I feel like it lol

hopefully is the exact word, everything ***** up for me
I was doing some sliding around in **** tonight in a parking lot with some friends, got a little to fast and a little to sideways and couldnt correct myself, right up onto and over the curb with the car resting on the sideskirts..... my sideskirts were moulded......
Ya that ***** now held on by a screw and some black duct tape (my cars black lol)
Time to get rid of the body kit anyways, dont want my baby to get ripped off
BTW- sliding on ice is kickass
Bump for an accurate compression ratio

Finally some #'s for the vitaras. My motor is torn down and being rebuilt right now....couple more months till its in, but its good to hear some decent #'s to look forward to!

That was actually on a stock block ~8.5 compression

Those are not the only numbers..
Currently i have 2 friends with Civic Coupes running 12's with the vitaras..
1- D16Y7 motor on a 1998 Coupe.. Log Manifold, Small t3(.48/.42), starion FMIC,Stock head and valve train, running on a SAFC,walbro Fuel pump and some DSM injectors--> Best time on slicks so far is 12.26@112mph. Car is complete and with A/C hooked up and cooling
2-1999 civic HX(D16y5)..Basically Same setup as above. Running 12.7@107mph
I expect to run 12's too on a SOHC non Vtec with my setup..just havent had time to finish this damn thing.. New Clutch,Flywheel and LSD going in soon so i can tune and go search the 12 sec runs..

It comes out to about 155psi across each cylinder, we know that for sure. Johnnyquest is using these right now on 10psi.
