Default no vtec after overhaul on my ITR

one of my oil seals on my car flew out when i was racing. oil went everywhere, oil pressure switch didnt kick in. ended up bending my con rods and crank, and toasted my pistons.
got brand new crank, rod, piston
stock type r crank
je piston 11.5:1
cant remember the brand of the rod.
and a custom cam
got the block bored out 20 dows
also replaced during the over haul with stock parts
oil pump, water pump, timing belt, bearings.
currently running stock cam for smog purposes.
custom cam was roughthly the same as TODA C cam
car misses at the beginning. plugged in a snap on scanner, reads -5 timing retard on hard acceleration(the max the ecu puts it i thk)
now put nos octane booster racing formalu(says 7 points, but it doubt it)

so anyways. currently doing a JDM front end on it.
start the car about once a week, smells like burning oil, maybe coz not run in yet. need advice.
will buy ECU programming later. also would be good if give me more advice on that too.
i am considering between AEM EMS and Greddy Emanage.
want to do it myself.

can't comment much on your troubles.....

but you might want to check your VTEC presure switch...the green one on the VTEC solenoid....

When I had a major coolant issue on the swapped hatch (as in coolant blew everywhere) the plug got wet cuz I was being an idiot and hosing everything down..... I'm not sure how clean you got your car after "oil went everywhere"

As for the whole ECU tuning, I'd give thumbs up to AEM EMS, hondata and uberdata...... esp. with the whole you want to DIY.... Good luck and hope to see you on track.
