2nd time to the track and ran a 14.829@93.76mph! the only 'mods' i have are...h&r sport springs, gutted trunk, and removed filter and passenger seat. needless to say i was very happy with the times...slip will be posted as soon as i can get ahold of a digital camera.

oh, sorry...its a '00 Base 5spd. h22a4 usdm BONE STOCK! this was on street tires too, kumho ecsta supra's.

 

damn thats impressive...not too many bone stock 5th gens break 14's...

very good. what do you mean removed filter??

I ran 14.807@93.53 in my 96 VTEC, stock except for springs, toyo t1-s, and an AEM CAI.

14.8 is tough stock, most people can't get 60fts like we did. I pulled 2.23 as well

 

THANKS! it really wasn't THAT hard (not saying its easy). the track was very well prep'd. gary white (titan supra driver) drove his street supra to the track and ran a 9.89...and then drove it home. a TRUE 9-second street car..insane.


edit: i have a stock intake. i took out the filter for that run. so it was running straight into the intake manifold.

I think he means just unbolting the arm from the air box so its sucking pure unfiltered air. Good times for the mods.

 

yea, i just took the filter out of the air box...gained ~1.5 mph with it out.

when my car was pretty much stock I ran about the same trap, but with around a 15.3

Have you taken it to the dyno recently?

I plan to take my bone-stock 2001 base there soon, so I'm curious to see what you get vs. what I get.

9.6 in the 1\8th is kickass for his setup

yea dude, i did the same thing the first time i went to the track, but eventually got a 15.4 @ 92mph. its a 5spd (i'll post pics soon), i'm running basically new Kumho Ecsta Surpa's, and i just practiced a lot. i launched about 4200-4400rpm and feathered the clutch out (keeping the rpm's above 4500 the whole time), it worked perfectly...anyone know what the fastest time for a stock prelude is? or is my car not considered stock?

for Type SH..

this is how i launched:

did a small burnout just so i saw a little smoke
launched at about ~4200-4400 rpm
feathered the clutch out, keeping the rpm's above 4500 the whole time
shifted 1st-2nd at about 7800-7900rpm
shifted at about 7600 for 2-3, 3-4 shifts
LOTS of practice!

I launch in VTEC, feather the clutch at the same around 4500, becuase you have to drop out of VTEC to get traction but you don't want to bog either. Stay in VTEC 1-2 and shift 2-3 at like 7300 or so and rode out 3rd.

Yeah it's really close...sometimes I would hit it. Maybe I went to 4th on the run..I can't even remember anymore.

So you have a VTEC controller then??

Because you can't launch in VTEC without one ............. the parameters for the VTEC to engage are oil pressure, rpms, and speed ............ it will not engage under 15-17 mph unless you have a computer override like a VTEC controller.

We all had this discussion a few years ago in the R forum ..........
