more RWD?
i think honda should make more great RWD cars like the s2000 and the ns-x or at least convert some cars into RWD like a DC5 something with a good amount of hp or an Prelude if somebody converted a DC5 into RWD would it be any better?
RL = AWD with super handling
if you think business, it would not benefit honda to make another RWD car. why? the big market is for fwd and awd cars. remember they are a company that needs to make money

i'm not trying to be sarcastic, but how is a fwd more fuel efficient then a rwd? my s2k gets basically the same if not better mileage then my dc2 type r did.

hahahahah.... nah mr honda says it's more fuel efficient.. hahaha.... i don't understand how.... but thats what he says hahaha..... i saw it on some show on the speed channel when they were talking to him about the new direction honda is going and he mentioned something about the fuel efficiency and front wheel drive....

They make FF cars because it works...people buy them...they last forever...etcetcetc.
If honda saw a benefit in producing any of their other cars in fwd drivetrains, they would...your talking a company that has a reputation of building the most reliable cars in the world, so you kinda got to give them credit that whatever their doing, its the best choice for the car's market.
The only car i would say that i agree with you on that is front wheel drive but should have been rear wheel drive is the CL/TL (and type-s models)...though i enjoy my CL-S just fine as it sits, i think it would have faired better in the market with a rwd platform...but again, it gets no complaints from me being front wheel drive all the same.

the CL i think would have been nice RWD, the TL no just cause its a family car. Now if they wanted a direct competitor for the 5 series then go ahead make it RWD but it will sell alot less

but if they made a RWD that was good for drifting other then the s2000 wouldnt they make more money from all those drift inspired fans and they make alot of money as it is so they could like a project car or something it would be nice if they did, because if people see one of those cars in the D1 or some drift event there goin to be people that would want to get it.

not gonna happen.. drifting isn't popular enough for honda to profit off of.... besides.. if they came out with one now.. it wouldn't be cheap like the ae86, or 180sx or 240sx...... so it wouldn't be worth it to honda.. they won't be able to cash in on it.... and by weighing the losses to the gains. it's not worth it...
good try tho

What so many fail to realize (including yourself VinhNumber5989), the market for people like many of us that enjoy tuning cars, racing of any aspect (drifting, drag, road course, what have you)...its very small in comparison to the rest of the world that either just wants a car to drive to get the from point A to B, or they buy their cars to drive like mentioned before, but also have that desire for a little fun involved.
The drifting scene seems big because your in a scenario that discusses it alot, just like drag racing and other types, but i can almost bet you money you could go to a honda dealership, ask 20 people what drifting is and i feel pretty safe in the assumption that atleast half of them wouldnt have a clue what your talking about.
So no...they wouldnt benefit as you think from that aspect of the market, one of the big reasons why we havnet got the Civic Type-R here, not because of drifting, but because the market for that car is not big enough to warrant its delivery here, thus, no usdm CTR.

in the end, all about what the majority want and making $$$

to address the front wheel drive vs rear wheel in terms of fuel efficiency, the only thing i can think of is that the drive shaft and rear diff and so on will put more drag on the engine. if you have a small displacement engine, lets say a d16, i thinki there would be a noticable difference in fuel efficiency

FF = lighter + more reliable because of less parts
(when comparing possible scenarios of equal power, limitations, etc. and assuming the power levels are not huge)

The biggests reasons most consumer cars are FF is because........
- Less part = more overhead
- Better Fuel efficiency = more buyers
- Understeer = More control for normal drivers
- RWD = smaller consumer group / aka less money
- Less engineering = More Overhead
The list goes on & on....
