Default Decent Port & Polish??? Ideas Welcome

I'm looking at a Port & Polish for My H22A w/lsd My friend works at the performance place, they do porting, machining, the whole engine rebuilding deal, he said he could hook me up for about $300 CDN Roughly 230$ USD, is that a good deal??? anyone got theres done?

If they can show you dyno sheets that prove their porting makes power, then yes that sounds like a good deal. Porting is an easy thing to screw up and doesn't automatically give you more power, it just depends on who does it...

i see, is there any advantage to it? better flow or what not?

is that a good price what to most shops charge

It depends on how they do it. If they just go in and bore the **** out of everything, then you'll lose low end power and may not even be able to rev high enough to make it up top end. If they just polish it smooth, you'll have poor fuel atomization.

Of course it will flow better, but you really should figure out what you want to do with your motor before you spend the cash on P&P. It varies for what compression you have, cams, rev limit, forced induction, etc. I don't think I'll ever mess with it myself....

dont be cheap when your port and polish, and honestly I wouldn't even mess with it unless you are really building up your motor, I had alot of porting work done on my motor however I am running a highly modified setup, so if you are sure you want to p&p look into Alaniz technology or DPR racing. good luck
