01 civic radio removal
my friend just bought a 2001 civic and we are trying to replace the factory radio with another one. problem is, i don't know how to get the dash piece off in order to do that. anyone know how?
1) pull piece that has the cig lighter and ashtray (or fog light switch) out towards you with some force. There are about 5 clips holding it in place.
2) once this piece is removed look up into it and you'll see 2 8mm bolts. remove these.
3) grab the metal piece above the frame that you unscrewed the 2 bolts from and pull with force towards you. The whole climate control and radio should pop out. it is held by about 7-9 clips.
4) undo plugs to the whole console.
5) gently pull the climate control ***** off (they should slide off
6) unscrew the 3 screws behind the climate ***** on the back side...this should give you access to the bolts screws on the radio bracket.
7) unscrew the bolts on radio bracket and it should slide out the front side.
warning!!!!! undoing the radio plugs, fuses,or battery will lock the radio and you will need the 5 digit unlock code from teh dealer to reactivate the factory radio. (just incase you decide to reinstall.
let me know if you've got any questions.....I did this with no damage whatsoever to my car.
