Changed HU, antenna stopped working shortly after....
I swapped out my factory unit for the aftermarket i had from my civic and it was working fine. Went out later and got out of the car and noticed the antenna was not all the way down. About 1" out. At this point i dont know if it had stopped working already or not and it didnt even cross my mind. I pushed the antenna in and left. Normally im listening to cd's and not radio so i dont really pay attention but id gotten used to hearing the antenna move. Later i noticed that it wasnt coming up when i turned the car on. Has this happened to anyone before? If its broke, its broke but if its a common issue thats a simple fix then id rather know what went wrong.

its probably that time...honda's power antenna's seem to go out after a certain amount of time...mines always do...but i dont listen to the radio much so it never seemed to bother me...eventually i broke it off and shaved it...
The same kinda thing happened to my Integra. I changed my battery, and when I went to re-program all the presets on my HU, then turned the radio off, the antenna would not go down at all. I do hear the motor running though. I think it's just a coincidence that it broke when I did that, but you can just replace the mast. You can find them on EBAY for $10-15.

Thanks, i checked that last nite after searching through a few other broke antenna threads. This wasnt the problem though. While driving around today, it hit me that civics dont have power antennas so there wouldnt be a reason for the installer (6 years ago) to hook it up. The first placed i dropped by to ask some questions, the girl at the counter was telling me i needed a power antenna adapter and that i should have the wiring harness rewired with one for a integra.
Next i dropped by bestbuy to ask about installation prices and alarms so i asked the installer about the power antenna too and he confirmed it. Theres a solid blue wire thats probably not connected. Sure enough i pulled out the harness and found the 2 wires, connected them and voila! Power antenna. Now with my Alpine HU the antenna doesnt go up during cd play like the factory unit.
Now i gotta make another thread about the factory pocket and aftermarket HU.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys.
