Bad Oil leak
I just got done replacing my cam seals, timing and balance belts on my 00 pelude. Well iv put it back together and started it up and the oil leak is even worse than befor i replaced the 2 cam seals. Iv taken the two caps for the seals off clean the upper case for each seal and tried ever so carefully cleaning the surface were the seal meets the head, so i could put that good oem grey gasket maker on.. Couldnt get it on bottom really well since the cams were still in. could that make it not seal?, after all i put it all over the top then rotated the seals down.. Put it on the case of each seal as well.. I could use some info, really need to get it fixed soon.
You might want to try picking up some of those "dress up" cam caps that are aluminum with the orings on them. The hard aluminum won't deform liek the rubber ones, and they seem to fit a bit tighter. They seems to have solved this prolbem for the leaky b series guys...
You should NEVER, EVER put anything where a seal is installed. Taking the bearing caps off was a bad thing too. Take the endcaps off and clean them, reinstall them and have the correct torque specs for it. Install new seals for the camshafts, make sure the inside lip of the seal is seated properly. When reinstalling the valve cover, be sure to use the gray gasket maker, where the velve cover gasket meets the cam endcaps.
