knock sensor could be my problem...help...
ok i have a crx w/ b20/vtec....its been running for a while now and i have my fair share of kills but honestly my friends ls/vtec feels a lot faster than my b20vtec....so i went to change my oil and my knock sensor is broken...(the clip is plugged in its just the sensor itself is still on the motor...the clip's just hanging and both are plugged in)...im not sure how long its been this way but i know its not right....my vtec still works with my pr3 ecu(not chipped) and it doesnt through any codes...as well with my friends chipped pr3 ecu....the car sounds like its flooding out with too much fuel at around 7500 rpm....could this be my problem...i am going to fix the knock no matter what....just wanted to know if thats my real problem..... any help appreciated and i already searched....

That doesn't sound like a knock sensor...but I could be wrong. How many o2's are you running, and how are they set up?
I'm not running a knock sensor, and all I get is a check engine light..car runs like butter.

i have a stock bottom end...the head is built though....i got a 1st gen b16 head...so you're telling me that even though the knock is broken it doesnt make a difference? thats hard to believe ....

yes, that's the function of a knock sensor, but it is my understanding that the knock sensor is not active under WOT.
So what I'm saying is that under the above assumption, if your car is slow at WOT, it couldn't possibly be the knock sensor.
Do you see where I'm going?

ok i got it....so if the knock sensor retards/advances the motor does it throw a CEL? or just does it on its own after it detects detonation? because it is sluggish/jerkish when im driving it regularly...

It does it's job without you knowing. It throws a cel if it is missing or broken, or something of that sort.

Well I have a crv-tec in my 88 EF9 and have had some of the same problems. When my knock sensor was broken, my V-tec would not kick in at all. I am running a pr3 computer, that has been chipped. I just replaced my O2 sensors and my car has been running alot better since then. I am still burning some oil, but that is another story.
yeah i have to change my O2s as well....when i built my lsvtec 3 of the 4 cylinders were full of oil....because my cylinders were out of round and the oil would pass thru the rings.....so i know that my O2s are full with oil as well as my exhaust system.....it used to smoke like crazy....
