Default LEAST noisy exhaust setup?

For me deciding which exhaust to go with is a little iffy. Sure the deep throaty exhaust is nice but being heard 5 blocks away at 8000rpm is not so nice. So out off all the exhaust sys I've heard apex n1 and tanabe g-med. seem to be the "quitest" if thats what you wanna call it, of them all. So if anyone knows of a recommendable system let me know. Am I better off going with custom 2.5 madrel piping (cat back) with a muffler? Is there a muffler thats "quiter". I've seen a few mufflers recently, and I'm not into that 5 inch tip if I can avoid it, I've seen a nice muffler with a 3'' tip, are the mufflers with smaller tips quiter? Thankx for you opinion

w/o a doubt the Mugen Catback is extremely quiet..however extremely expensive.
Muffler wise, the Spoon Sport Muffler is Quiet, as is the Mugen Twin-Loop.

N1 quiet? AHHAHAHA. If you want quiet try getting the Apexi World Sport, Mugen or spoon sport.

The JDM Mugen is the "quietest" that sill has good gains. I have tha Apex N1 and its real loud. (Almost as loud as no muffler at all)

I have the Spoon 4-2-1, Spoon cat jack and JDM Mugen b-pipe and twin loop. It's almost as quiet as stock at idle, but is much louder when the revs climb. Very very nice tone and virtually no resonance (other than the sound of exhaust pulses in the SS header).

Apexi Dunk...Quiet if you don't have a high flow cat, or test pipe.
Not mugen quiet, but not to bad droning or anything...
Kind of like an intake, loud when you get on it, but otherwise relatively quiet.

And they are on great sale prices because they are discontinued...if you're on any kind of budget!

I've had the Mugen exhaust before and I think it's pretty damn loud.
But then again, I had it installed on a B20 w/ no cat and 12:1 compression so THAT might have something to do with it.

RS-R is extremely quiet. All you really hear is intake noise.

Also, I am very impressed with my SMSP system. It's got a unique sound to it. As much as I hate to say it, the exhaust ALMOST sounds like my Uncle's M3.

It's the SMSP big tube B20 header w/ no cat, Magnaflow resonator, full 2.5" SS tubing to generic Arospeed muffler(sprayed flat black to keep the bling bling factor down )

Maybe someone here has SMSP exhaust on their ITR for a 1.8 liter?

I'm gonna give SMSP a big huge

Default Here's one for you...

...Supertrapp. Supertrapp Motorcycle muffler, to be specific. They're tunable. You can add or subtract the silencer rings to determine the amount of noise and flow that your vehicle sees. The fewer number of rings, the better the flow, but the louder the car. The MORE the rings, the quieter the car, but the worse the flow.

Dave made an exhaust for RStoR using Magnaflow stuff. I don't recall hearing it at full throttle, but I believe it was as quiet as stock. Perhaps Dave or Chris can chime in on this.

Dude, we gotta run again. It wasn't fair on your part last time. I had a JUN2 intake cam and my VTEC was at 5100. You still had stock cams w/ 5700 VTEC.

Now I have the stock cams and you have the JUN2.

But I have the ATS 4.92 FD...
Bring it on, foo'!

BTW, there's a bachelor party tonight if you wanna go. Call me later, Mike.

While we're on the subject why does no one mention Greddy SP or The Tanabe GM and HM. Do they not make good gains on the R. I had both of these exhausts on my hybrid civic and loved them, sound performance, looks everything...Am I missing something?

Mine too. And if you want it quieter, call Comptech and ask for the Quiet Tip Insert. It's about $20.00, and cuts the noise down to like stock. It's held in with one screw, so you can install or remove in just a minute.

Yep, you can't go wrong with quality OEM. I am happy with my ITR stock set up. No worries about cops, smog, etc. , etc.

Thats going to be the quietist set-up out there and it is efficient up to 200 WHP. Go with other mods first worry about exhaust later.......I wish I would have.
