Need help to identify my engine
I usually post in the eg section cause that is what i own but this is a different case. I recently baught a 93 cx with a swap. The engine is a D15B. At first i thought it was the jdm engine but it is non vtec and it is not very fast. The reason i posted here is because i had a friend with a 90 civic hatch and he had the same exact engine. It says D15B but it is non vtec. But i have not seen him in years. So maybe u guys can help me.
Was there any honda that was pre-92 with and engine code stamped d15b but was non vtec. thanks for the help

There was a D15b sold prior to 1992. It has no vtec and made 91 or 100 PS(90 or 99 Hp) depending on trim.
Here's a chart straight from the Honda archives. I realize you probably can't read japanese but if you go 3/4 of the way down the page, you'll see several engine codes and coresponding PS/rpm ratings.

There are even multiple versions of the D15b made from 92-95...not all of them had vtec and 130 PS. Two others made 100 and 94 PS.
