engine mounts
I installed an ls into my 88 crx...
but I used a b16 motor mount kit by avid. people said that as long as its a B series motor mount it will be fine... but i've destroyed 2 oil pans already and it seems that the valve cover hits the hood on other crix's but mine clears about 1/2 to about an inch.
question is... does the b16 motor mounts sit lower than b18s? because I know if i get a 4-1 exhaust manifold I know it would definitely bottom out on "truck traps"
I dont know what u guys call it but a truck trap is when the road dents in due to truck wheels... and the middle of the road bumps up. (RIP first oil pan).
you might say just raise the dampners ... but the dampners i used is somehow fused... and wont move...

No there is no difference in the mount kits used to mount a b series motor in an ed chassis. The b18/b16/b20...etc will all mount in the ed chassis with the same kit. The difference is in the design from kit to kit and the placement of the engine that the kit provides. Your kit sounds like it sacrifices ground clearance for hood clearance. Also remember the b18 has a slightly taller deck height than the b16.
yea... but my car is an EF... I myself never heard of an ed body style. so... unless u made a mistake and meant EF... we're talking different bodystyles... so that might mean... your talking different mount kits.
btw... i used avid mounting kits. anyone know anything about this. ???

No, your CRX is an ED9 just like the rest of us in the United States. Go check your VIN number and you will see for yourself.

Avid is rather a cheap way out, for some people it works well and to others it is sacriligous as the motor placement isn't as it should be. I would rather trim the under-hood webbing to make room for the motor then have to worry about my oil pan being shredded.

No different bodystyle. All US 88-91 civic/crx are ed bodystyles
Japanese 88-91 civic/crx are ef bodystyles
European 88-91 civic/crx are ee bodystyles
Yeah the avid motor mount kit places the motor lower than other mount kits. Do yourself a favor and get a good mount kit like hasport or hcp.

so you drive an EF? as in a Japanese version of the crx?
and for everyone V.I.N.= Vehicle Identification Number, so please quit saying vin number which would mean vehicle identification number number

I have been dumb struck by the honda gods with lightning to the tip of my wee wee ... because I didnt put 2 and 2 together that i never always saw JHMED instead of JHMEF ... can we get over this and figure out wtf am I suposed to do w/ a cracked tranny and 2 crushed oil pans... and a "inexpensive" place to get motormounts preferably generic hasport.
generic as in same quality lower price.
that was the true meaning of generic... cheap on the other hand is just made in mexico/taiwan/sao palo, with spot welding and rubber from shoe soles for the middle.
