How do I change the alternator in CRX with a B16 Swap
My Alternator went on my daily driver, i need some help quickly. Does anybody know how to take off the alternator off of a b16 in a CRX. Any and all help is apreciated, i really need it quick
buy a helm manual. Then take off the belt, take out the bolts, and drop it out from the bottom. I completely forgot how I did mine so that's all I can give you until i go outside and look at my car.
i just did this 2 days ago, took me about 2 hours and a whole lot of strength.you need to take the alternator off of the bracket.then take the 3 bolts that hold the bracket to the block off, remove the bracket and take it out of the fenderwell..i almost gave up and got it stuck half way out.i got fed up and punched the mother ****** guess what fell out?when you take it out through the fender the pulley needs to be facing up.it really helped that i dont have splash guards but it shouldnt be too bad.just undue them from the fender and you should be ok.good luck and dont give up.

Last time I tried, an alternator would not come out from the bottom, even with the bracket removed. This is with a b series engine in there.

It sounds like some of u guys are talking about how to remove an alternator with a SOHC, not a B series. SOHC does not require removal of the axle, but B series does if u want to remove it from the bottom. Maybe, just maybe if u fight with it all day long u MIGHT be able to manage with the axle in place, but just make it easy on urself and remove it. It falls right out.

U really think thats easier than just removing the axle?
Good to hear it was just the belt.

Well, to take the axle out, you have to undo the fork, then undo the balljoint which in most cases is a bitch to get off because its seized and you have to beat it with a hammer and in which most cases you need a lift in order to get enough power to get to the balljoint and crack it loose. You dont even need a lift when taking a brake booster off. So which one sounds less intellegent?
unbolt the master cyl from the booter gently move out of the way remove altenator reverse procedure for re install.
to remove the alternator you need to go from the bottom
you need to remove the axel and then the alternator braket then just follow through the rest of it

I just did it yesterday. I started by jacking the car up and taking the tire off, so i could get to the bottom alternator bolt better. Then I took the bottom bolt off the alternator and then the top one. Next take off the brake booster. You can now move the brake booster a little but there still isnt enough room to slip the alternator out. So just take the alternator bracket off, its two bolts. After that is off the alternator will slide right out.
Reverse for install.

With a b series engine it will not drop from the bottom. Well it does depend what engine mounts you use

That guy should not be working on cars if he does not know that you can take the master cylinder off the brake booster with out bleeding the brakes
