A friend of mine recently had his aem cai installed on hie ep3 hatch. However, i have a feeling that it was installed incorrectly. Does anyone have an engine bay pic of the aem cai? Also, how does it sound OTH before and after vtec? It's almost as if the intake isnt installed sound wise in his car. Tried to search but did not find any pictures. Thanks in advance

 

EP3 engine engages Vtec early, so you won't be able to hear it switch over like older models. You should be able to tell the sound of the intake right away. I don't know how he could've installed it incorrectly, it's plug and play.

 

I am aware of that... only thing is that its really quiet... aem is said to be one of the loudest intakes out. (the cold air), which is why ive heard ppl call it the aem noise maker. PIcs?

its only loud under hard acceleration. pretty quiet during normal driving.

 

The K20A3 (base rsx and ep3)engine has VTEC at 3000 and it isnt the kinda VTEC for power. More for economy. So you're not gonna hear a big diff. But it still should be louder overall with the intake.
