HID Questions
Does anyone know what's the main purpose of that metal wire sticking out beside the glass bulb?
And how come it's wrapped with another metal-like thing??(Mine is brown I think)...
And did anyone try to paint that wrap thing with some gloss blue paint? I am just wondering if I paint that thing with a blue paint, will it make the overall color less yellow? Because I've notice that Philips D2S bulbs are a little yellowish(4300k) and I just want to mod it so it become pure white... but not blue
Thanks.

It won't help. The kalvin and lumans that HID's emit will over power that blue greatly. The only real way to get a bluer color is to make a blue tinted reflector, etc... However I wouldn't suggest it because the bulbs themself are like $150each if you mess up.
Its better to just get the real 6000k HID's. BTW- They have that blue tinted strip on them to just show that they are the real 6000k bulbs. The reason they are so much bluer is due to the insides of the bulbs and the new gasses and sodium crystal.

well i dont think 6000k bulbs that side thing is blue, at least mine is purple, anyhow yes it is to let us to identify what K is it, for 4300k it is brown, and from what i know that metal is also to protect u from breaking that thin wire, since it is so easy to break and every time when u try to put the bulbs in, it's kinda hard not to touch that part, so some ppl say the point of the metal is to protect the bulbs
So yours is like 7000k?? so it's a purple color?? Because from http://autolamp-online.com it shows it's a blue color... But not sure.. Just wondering...
Anyway... I probably going to try... I got another spare pair that I bought for less then 150 shiped... so I guess it's okay.. it's like getting that PIAA Super Plasma bulb
But what kind/brand of paint should I use?? Thanks.
